He tried to refer to the diversity of the founding membership as including Republicans, Democrats, blacks, etc. but them blew it with one short comment.

I also notice that he tried to deflect historical context as irrelevant to today's debate but felt the supposed historical diversity of his group was relevant.

62. There's something going on with the SPLC stuff
Today on this board a linked article attacked SPLC at length and called for a Congressional investigation.

I'm wondering if we may be seeing the beginning of a coordinated attack on SPLC a la the targeting and smearing of ACORN.

the SPLC has been around for a long time documenting racism and hate groups...they have been a target since their inception, and the RW would try to take them down, but I don't think they will come close...just like they tried to take down the ACLU and failed miserably...even Limbaugh counted on the ACLU for protection recently.

72. The SLPC is one of the best organizations around to take on
the racists and haters. Years ago, when I actually knew what money looked like, I went to their site and was so impressed I sent $150 and a note to keep up the excellent work.

Some day, when i actually know what cash looks like, I'll do it again...:D

75. I visited their HQ in Montgomery AL
In front of the building is a beautiful and very powerful civil rights memorial. It was designed by Maya Lin, who also designed the Vietnam
Veterans Memorial in DC.

95. It's "Sixty Minutes" Syndrome.
Years ago I saw Mike Wallace in an interview. He said these people feel they can beat the (real) interviewer. I can see Stein, as the spokesman for his group, if not eager, then certainly willing to speak for them. Isn't he a lawyer? I hope he comes back for more.
