Some questions on the AZ law...
Could I, if I were in AZ, ask cops to randomly check people's papers? Hey, there's a guy over there that I suspect is illegal, go check him out.

Could I ask a cop who just pulled me over for speeding to ask some guy for his birth certificate? There's that part that says if an officer isn't enforcing the law, he can be sued, so...

If a cop walks into a bar, can various people in the bar keep him busy checking one person after another for papers?

Can all the hispanics ask cops to check white guy's papers? What constitutes suspicion? If the cop says, "well, he's white," are there laws he then has to arrest himself over having to do with racial profiling?

If a cop can be sued for not adequately enforcing the law, does that apply only to city of state laws, or does it apply to national laws or treaties?

Can a cop be sued for not arresting Bush for war crimes?

Just curious.

2. What a poorly written law! It's a mess and it seems to encourage law suits.

3. What about joggers?
When I jog, I dont carry my wallet. Will sweaty white joggers be acosted for their "papers?" Will preppy bank execs be hauled off to the hoosegow?

4. Here is what can happen
the bill has a provision that if a citizen doesn't feel law enforcement is enforcing this law properly (whatever properly means) then they can sue the law enforcement agency. So if I am in a store in Phoenix and a cop walks in, I ask him to check out a guy I think is undocumented because I noticed his hair was dark, his skin brown, and he was acting nervous, then the cop decides he isn't going to bother the guy, I can file a lawsuit and guess who will help me, FAIR
