So the NYC would-be-bomber was White and in his 40s
I'm gonna be really pissed if I find out this guy has teabag connections.

You know I spent 8 years protesting the Bush administration and not ONCE did anyone ever use any form of lethal violence to get our point out to the public. And yet Teabaggers are suggesting using guns to solve problems, shooting up innocent people and flying planes into buildings. SO what happens - they get massive media coverage as some sort of force to reckon with in the United States.

If it turns out a teabagger was involved with this bombing, I hope our government cracks down on this organization as the racist hate group that they are.

1. If not a bagger then a militia nut or at least a lone conserva-crazy.
I doubt concrete bagger connections personally.

Just a SWAG for getting my knee-jerk on.

23. But one thing that leads you to think tea bag
is that the plan for the bomb was so stupid and non peforming. Every thing the tea bags do is ignorant look at their signs.

Whoever it was...they were seemingly inept and not formally trained. Probably worked by themselves.

2. We really don't know much of anything yet
The video, released to the public, is of a caucasian man, near the scene, who removed an overshirt while glancing back in the direction of the SUV:

3. Why is it everyone suspects Muslims and never the right wing terrorists?
seems to me domestically the right wing terror attacks are far more likely than Muslim ones.

You're going to let this statement stand?

Do you personally know anyone that follows Islam?

9. I always think RW Terrorists first. Not being a corporte media employee, I can do that
Edited on Mon May-03-10 09:07 AM by havocmom
All the Muslims I have known, or even just met, (and there are many)were very peaceful, caring people who used thought to solve problems.

A lot of the wingers I have known, and there have been too many, seem to be of the mind that might makes right and violence is fine if you don't get caught and have to pay the consequences.

RW bullies ALWAYS spring to mind when something like this happens. Yeah, I am a bigot that way. Experience has made me thus.

20. Right wingers firmly believe in the idea that the ends justify the means
Since they believe their ends are superior to all others, they have little to no problem engaging in terrorism or other morally reprehensible acts to achieve their ends.

they're theorizing that it has something to do with 'South Park' because of portraying Muhammed in a bear suit or some such shit. The van was near the studio.

6. McVeigh's central focus and obsession was gun rights.
I don't understand how they think that blowing up people will further their gun desires.

Do they think that next to bombs, guns don't look so bad?

8. No. The white 40 year old is a person of interest, nothing more.
DU excitement notwithstanding, investigators have no idea, and if I had to guess are trying to look busy.

12. They've actually even backed off the person of interest angle.
On CNN, police spokesperson just stated he's not a suspect. Not a person of interest even. That they just want to know who he is.

It pisses me off because, when I look at that video, it's a guy taking his sweatshirt off to reveal a tshirt on a warm day in NYC. I have a feeling the media is going to end up stepping in it on this one.

15. Parallels between NY attempted bombing and Timothy McVeigh's bombing.
The botched NY City bombing shares a number of striking parallels with the Timothy McVeigh bombing beside the obvious vehicle-building-walk-away narrative (although that, in itself, is very compelling--replicating the act of one's hero in broad strokes). But there seem to be light strokes as well.

The botched bomber used fertilizer which the investigators say was non-explosive, placing it into a gun box. If he knew the fertilizer was useless, it would be a clear homage to McVeigh. (The gun box being a tip of the hat to McVeigh's military background.) If he didn't know this it could still be an homage.

The NY attempted bomber locked the van's doors, leaving the keys inside. Some accounts say McVeigh left the keys in the Ryder's cab and locked the doors. (I think the case is that he took the keys, but there is no accounting where these nuts get their information.) Source: http://history1900s.about.com/cs/crimedisaster/p/okcitybombing.htm

Fireworks went off in the van alerting vendors. If the attempted bomber was so inept with clocks, it is likely that he lit a long fuse. McVeigh lit two fuses just before or as he left the Ryder.

Additionally,l MSNBC played a show based on The McVeigh Tapes on the 20th of April.

I could be way off, but if I was leading the investigation I'd be putting resources into this question, hoping to find him before . . .

Well i won't jump the shark and say it's a conservative. Al Qaida does have some white people in their organization. But more then likely it is probably home grown terrorism. I would say a lone nut...cause Al Qaida and the militia usually pick dates that are symbolic to their cause. Al Qadia usually in september and the militia on april 19th or some other "patriotic" day. The only big thing i can think about that happen on may 3rd in the past was Kent state

CT requires a person to turn in the tags to the Motor Vehicle Department when you junk a car. WHY did this guy leave them on a junk car, in direct violation to CT law. I don't get that one.

21. If you think about it all that hoop la
about Tim McVeigh and his "good" doings is the cause of it and it can be traced right back to FOX AND ONLY FOX per Beck.

The Democrats in congress have got to do something about this republican infomercial station....it has got to be reigned in. If they had the balls to pass a version of the Fairness Doctrine they would at least make they tell the truth instead of the constant day in and day out lying.
