What is the RW gonna do now? All that shit they came up with all those years is being decimated by...real life! We asked that drilling not be done off the coasts of our own shores because the risk of catastrophe was enormous, and all they did was demean and belittle us. Well, as the wavelets deposit the oil sludge upon the beaches, into the Deltas, and into the intakes of ships, let the Republicans continue to tell you that there is no real problem.
Furthermore, when some bullshitting wannabe-governor of some state tells the electorate that their taxes are too high and that he's gonna lower them, and then the municipalities have to dramatically raise the real estate taxes and local fees to cover the loss so that School buses may pick up the children, the trash get hauled away, and the police and firemen are paid, then they're finally going to have to deal with the truth...or are they? Americans have been in denial for so long, certainly since Reagan, arguably much longer, that they barely know right from wrong, truth from fiction, left from right. So new Jersey taxpayers now are experiencing buyers' remorse. Tough...who'd a thunk that you could lower taxes on the rich and not have to make it up elsewhere or have draconian budget cuts...WHICH WILL COST THE TAXPAYERS MUCH MORE IN THE LONG RUN.
Or when their ilk passes a bill which requires police to racially profile the citizens...wait until the first brother-in-law of some state senator or police chief gets pulled over and roughed up because he isn't carrying an American Passport or...ORIGINAL birth certificate, because Lord knows, copies of same just won't do...especially those of Hawaiian extraction. and then horror of horrors, there'll be a public outcry to stop or change this policy because "what were we thinking"?
Or even better: remember when all the Hardhats and flag-waving assholes said that the troops had a right to use live ammunition at Kent State..."dirty hippies"...shot four! Plugged 'em! Right where they stood!" That's what you get for protesting what turned out to be a war based on warmongers' lies and dirty tricks. And so now, the military quietly admits, ever so softly, that Vietnam was not "a good experience" and that tens of thousands had to die because tens of thousands had already died. And this made sense? To the Conservatives it did...and even when Robert McNamara later issued his mea culpa, probably worrying about Hell or his Place in History, or both, it wasn't good enough for the Commie-chasers, the America-firsters, the remnants of the John Birchers.
And they have all been laying in wait...all these years. Perhaps you thought they were gone or a tiny minority. Well, you were wrong about that one if that's what you believed, and when that utter failure, lucky sperm-club member John McCain introduced Sarah Palin to the masses, how they emerged from their hideyholes to embrace her. She was what their America was all about...and by and large, they're right: uninformed, laissez-faire attitudes towards business and education and health care, unread, unkempt, and unimaginably stupid.
And so here we are: two wars going nowhere, an oil spill going everywhere, the Ring of Fire vomiting forth ash and earthquakes which the 'brilliant' governor of Louisiana once mocked by demeaning 'volcano monitoring', a vocal neo-something group who resembles the early versions of the Nazi Party, bankrupt states, bankrupt individuals and small businesses, and bankrupt banks. And more to come.
