AZ State Senator follows Stormfront Founder on Twitter
http://gawker.com/5529952/arizona-republican-leader-follows-white-supremacist

Don Black is a Florida-based white supremacist who is deemed so dangerous he's banned from the UK for inciting hatred. Arizona State Senate Majority leader Chuck Gray—a proponent of the recent immigration bill—follows him on Twitter.

StormfrontWPWW (White Pride Worldwide) is the Twitter account for Stormfront...

~snip~

Its {stormfront's} Twitter account is one of 4,819 that Arizona State Senate Majority Leader Chuck Gray (top) follows. Stormfront does not reciprocate, however—the group follows no one. Which means that Gray, or whoever is responsible for his Twitter account, sought out the racist organization specifically and decided its tweets were essential reading. Perhaps because they've linked heavily on their feed to stories about the recent Arizona immigration bill and similarly racist-tinged measures in the state to remove teachers with "ethnic" accents from classrooms? Of course, this isn't the first time Arizona's right-wing politicians have been linked with racist groups...

1. See also

And note, Stormfront doesn't follow any1, so AZ GOP Senate Maj Leader isn't a victim of Twitter's auto-follow http://is.gd/bSJJY

So how does auto-follow work when SF has 0 followers? RT @BobBrigham: @markos I hate Chuck Gray, but he obviously has it set to auto-follow

2. Color me surprised...
Not.

Knowing how I follow people, I wouldn't be surprised if he raided someone else's follower list and Stormfront was one of those swept up.

He probably has a few more white supremacists that he's following.

3. Appalling
You don't follow Don Black unless you are flat out racist, no two ways about it. I'm surprised the Senator was so clumsy about it, usually Republicans are more sneaky. Makes you wondering who is really pulling the strings in Arizona.

4. Note to non-tweeters, autofollow is a feature
you can turn on that sets you to automatically follow anyone who follows you.

That is NOT the case here as the Stormfront account doesn't follow anyone.

This was a deliberate selection by whoever mans this account.

5. But...but...he's a decent Mormon family man!
After Gray graduated from high school, he spent two years as a missionary in Spain. He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and he speaks fluent Spanish. He returned to work in the family construction business as a brick, block and stone mason while attending Mesa Community College.

He later served as an officer with the Mesa Police Department for 10 years.

9. The scary thing about this discovery is that people voted this man in.
Edited on Mon May-03-10 06:02 PM by political_Dem
And if his constituents didn't react to this revelatory information when Gray was running, I imagine that this news will cause nary a blip in their consciousness--especially when the polls in the media keep blaring out that people support that disgusting piece of legislation.

However, Gray's position of power within a state government is not new. The KKK and white supremacist organizations ran every political office from top to bottom for more than a hundred years in America. Even the sheriff, the garbage-man and the dog-catcher was affiliated with the KKK back in the day. And like now, their constituents voted them in and thought nothing of their representative's virulent racial animus.

After all, none of the constituents turned their heads when a lynching or a cross burning happened. Some even had picnics while those events happened.

There isn't any difference between now and then, except in the present day Gray's election and eventual seat of power says more about the people who voted him in than the man himself.

That a given number of people endorse what this man believes in should make anyone who has empathy and a conscience rather aghast.

It isn't the mouth-breathers that one should fear. It is "good God-fearing" folks that are the most unsettling in this society.
