'Washington Blade' gets another stab at publication

The Washington Blade, the capital's major homosexual newspaper, is being revived.

The newspaper was launched 40 years ago but folded in November after its parent company filed for Chapter Seven bankruptcy. Since that filing, the Blade has published its weekly editions under the name D.C. Agenda; but now that the Atlanta bankruptcy court has acquisition of the paper's assets, the weekly publication is expected to resume its work under its original name.

Peter LaBarbera, president of Americans for Truth About Homosexuality (AFTAH), is not surprised by the business's financial woes.

Peter LaBarbera"What's apparent is that the homosexual press and the gay media is in big trouble, and it's no wonder because the so-called 'mainstream' media is doing the gay media's job," he comments. "Who needs the gay press when you've got The Associated Press writing nearly 100 percent pro-homosexual stories and not even including the other side in many of the stories that deal with homosexual issues?"

The AFTAH president points out that in addition to this bias, the left-leaning media will not even report on such issues as homosexuals who have left the lifestyle.

"Organs like CNN, Associated Press, ABC, they're basically doing the job that the homosexual media once did," he reiterates. "They have become arms of the gay movement. It's very troubling to see such a controversial issue being treated in such a doctrinaire manner, a pro-homosexual manner by the mainstream press."

Last Friday, 25,000 copies of the new newspaper were published in preparation for the paper's new beginning.
