Authorities Have Identified Person of Interest in Times Square Bomb Attempt
Investigation Pointing to Coordinated Effort, Foreign Links in Foiled Times Square Attack

By RICHARD ESPOSITO, PIERRE THOMAS and BRIAN ROSS

Federal authorities are closing in on the man they say is a person of interest in the Times Square car bomb attempt this weekend, who is described as a naturalized American citizen who hails from Pakistan and just returned after spending five months there.

Police release video of possible suspect seen near site of failed attack. There is growing evidence the bomber did not act alone and had ties to radical elements overseas, with one senior official telling ABC News there are several individuals believed to be connected with the bombing and that at least one of them is a Pakistani-American.

Attorney General Eric Holder said today the investigators had made "substantial progress" in tracking the man who drove a Nissan Pathfinder into New York's Times Square with a crude bomb that failed to detonate.

Officials declined to provide the specifics that led them to believe there were overseas links to a larger plot.

3. What about her?
Is there a white suspect who is throwing a Pakistani out there to deflect attention from themselves?

4. Registered owner claimed he sold the SUV via Craig's List three weeks ago

to a man who looked Middle Eastern or Hispanic for cash. There is no record for this transaction, but that would not be entirely unheard of.

For this information to be leaked now (note, no named sources for the person of interest bit) means one of two things. Either an arrest of a Pakistani man is imminent or they are redirecting the real suspect.

Edited to add: They are saying the registered owner of the SUV is not a suspect.

Mind you, so far, all the "sources" refuse to be identified, so there's that.
