I may join the Republicans
I am sick and tired and sick and tired of being sick and tired. DUer's brother killed in Iraq. Mrbush vetoes helping the military out of a horrendous situation and threatens more vetoes. More harm, more mayham, more lies, more deceptions, hate, fear, power, egos.

If I join the republicans, I hear I don't have to think or feel. I can just be a good person running around going lalalalalalalala bzzzzzzz with my fingers in my ears and I don't have to work or fret or sweat or worry about the environment or global change or peak oil or starvation or lack of health insurance because I can go to a church once a week and be absolved of any responsibility, or I can do whatever I feel like and then go into rehab and have it all be ok and even maybe I'll win the lottery or get rich and famous and then that will prove that anyone can do it.

What do you think?

4. I'd better do that, then off to change what I call things.
Pre-born vs fetus. Rights of the Unborn vs rights of the living. Thanks for the reminder.

As long as you tell God you're sorry afterwards and do TV commercials about how it's the worst decision you've ever made.

15. Well...not all R's are that bad, but what we see of them you'd
think they were spawned from satan's loins.

I'm proud as hell I'm a D, and have empathy, compassion and some other human qualities, like forgiveness and an unceasing search for true justice. For a while, those actually were R qualities...but that was gone after the first R president, Lincoln, met his fate at Ford's Theater.

There were a few attempts to return to the ways of Lincoln, but there was just too much money to be made
under the RR's, shipping and industry. D's in history were no angels either, but w/the Great Shift, we became, by default, the party of the Progressives...something TR believed in, an R, but a good R...:)

14. That only happens if you allow yourself to be lobotomized
....real liberal democrats can't ever drink enough repuke koolaid to get to the lalalalalala bzzzzzz state without the proper brain surgery. You could try to pretend, but I think you would end up coming back to DU after just a short while.

Sorry, but that is our curse....we know the truth and once we know the truth we can't ever return to not knowing the truth.

And God knows that the GOP is the source of most of our problems today.

BTW, about the family illness...I hope whoever's having problems will feel better soon. :)

Repubs are like the scene in 'Half Baked' where Chappelle says to his friend, "You've just smoked yourself retarded".

You have to wind up going past that and smoking yourself Republican.

29. they give you wonderful flyers in the bulk mail
sometimes it's a bit too glossy for the hamster cage, but they're generally fun to get. i always find the voting guides -- where they literally go down the list on how to vote like a republican -- useful most of the time. all you have to do is do the opposite and you magically vote in your best interests! so convenient! it gives you political cover against bullshit management, and it allows you to gather incriminating data on these assholes when they think they are talking amongst like-minded friends! there's many wonderful reasons to be a registered republican, you should consider taking the switch today! :D

34. I've always believed that the reason
there are as many Republicans as there are, is because it's so easy to be one. You don't have to care about anyone but yourself. There are no problems in the world that merit your concern. It's all someone else's fault and "they're just jealous" or whatever excuse means they don't have to be concerned or help. You're right, for them there is no worry about the environment or human rights. Anything that comes up that the rest of us might want to do something about, or improve, is "just a conspiracy". Poverty?... "It's their own fault for not pulling themselves up by their bootstraps." You can go on and on.

Why care when you don't have to? Just be a Republican.

35. Four step program to being a good Republican:
(1) You must take a leadership position in the community,
(2) You must divide the community between us vs. them. The "us" are people with money, or people who think they have money vs. "them" people who may be in need, or just people who don't look like the "us" people. i.e. triguenos.
(3) You must figure out a way to use your leadership position to get inside information, and boldly use it for personal benefit, WHILE you screw over the people you're suppose to be representing. But this is the catch between a Republican and an ordinary crook: To be a good Republican, you need to network with other leaders in the community who are doing the same thing.
(4) And that gets us to step (4). Donate freely to your church of choice so you can have a "clean" veneer in the public. So that the priest or minister or "good people" of the community always have a kind word to say about you.
