Biscuit survives - pic
Edited on Mon May-03-10 07:48 PM by Kadie

Biscuit survives: Tara Crider cuddles her cousin's dog, Biscuit, after the pooch was found alive under debris in his tornado-destroyed home in Scotland, Ark. Several twisters leveled houses, overturned vehicles and uprooted trees across central Arkansas.

10. Your dog was loved every day he knew you.
Now find another dog who needs that love. Even in grief. It won't be the same dog at all. It will be someone else who needs you. And all the love your dog gave you becomes a legacy of giving.

31. I have four, including one named Biscuit. There's a dog out there who needs you.

She was a stray, picked up in a parking lot. She needed us.

41. Somewhere out there is a dog who needs you.
I know you think it's too soon to think about getting another dog. But if I may offer some advice, along with the condolences?

Right now, you feel as if there's a huge gaping hole in your heart and you just don't know how to fill it. But that isn't how that hole works. It's not waiting to be filled -- it's got all this love pouring out of it and it has nowhere for all that love to go.

And yet somewhere out there is a dog waiting to take all that love, and then turn around and give it all back. You need to find that dog -- or let him or her find you.

I almost lost two of mine in the past couple of weeks, one to a rattlesnake bite that's still healing on her nose and the other to a bad case of valley fever that will have him on medication for at least six months and maybe for the rest of his life. That's okay, because what I shell out in cash for them doesn't even come close to matching the priceless gift they give to me in love.

You had a relationship with your dog that cannot be replaced. You will never forget him. But you know that they say dogs live shorter lives than humans because dogs learn so much quicker how to give and receive unconditional love. And we need them to teach us.

Don't wait too long to find the next one. It's waiting, patiently, somewhere.

13. Beautiful post, beautiful message.
Between you and Steve, I'm crying too.

It's so true. Pets are not interchangeable. Each is so unique and you have different relationships with them. Their gifts to us are great. Sharing and passing it on keeps it going, and helps us heal when we have a loss.

12. Your loss brings tears to my eyes too
Just as Biscuit's survival does.

I've owned dogs and cats all my 61 years. Many losses but many loves and many wonderful memories. My dogs and cats were happy and I was a good keeper. Loss hurts but our pets and best friends are worth the pain. I wouldn't give up one second of their presence in my life to avoid the pain. They know from unconditional.

Grieve not,

I loved you so --
'twas Heaven here with you.
