1. IIRC they were performing together prior to Maines joining them
there have been rumors of personality clashes even before their political trouble

4. Right you are... Laura Lynch and Robin Macy
Edited on Fri May-07-10 01:22 AM by abq e streeter

I was fortunate enough to do a show with them in 1992,at the New Mexico State Fair, several years before they became famous. Awesome talents, and the sweetest, nicest young ladies you could hope to meet. Robin had just left the band and it was the three of them with Laura ( who I sort of halfway tried to hit on that day; I thought it maybe looked promising for awhile but ultimately....oh well.....) This was years before going glam too; they wore bluejeans and cowboy boots etc.

Look closely, and you'll notice that the "cactus" is Laura's bass.

5. Martie and Emily used to sit in with our band in the early 80's in Dallas.
They were cute little girls playing banjo and fiddle, and always a hit with the crowd. Robin was around the N. Texas scene then, and jammed with us many times before hooking up with the Erwin girls and Laura.

Their eventual break-up was over the "bluegrass vs. pop" issue, but they seemed to have made the right decision, commercially speaking.

7. that's very cool...so you probably knew about Laura's "cactus " bass too.
Do you still play? DUer Miles Coltrane is a working musician in the DFW area ( I've never been there ) and has done some gigs with an old 80's bandmate from here in Albq named Jim Sangrey, who was a monstrous sax player in his mid-20's; probably unbelievable now. One of my friends here remembers Natalie as a little girl too (and remembers her as a "feisty" little girl), from knowing her dad, who you probably either know or know of, Lloyd Maines. Never met him, but again, as you probably know, he played for many years with Joe Ely,and my friend was Joe's guitar tech/roadie/whatever else was needed, for a few years. And yeah, the Chicks were still more "bluegrassy" when I did that show with them. Tremendous talents; nice people and I'm happy for them for all the success they've attained.

3. They were on Letterman tonight.
They performed a kick-ass rendition of Ain't No Son of Mine, a song about a gay son coming out to his father. Song of the year, so far.

6. Natalie hasn't quit.
She's just taking more time before returning to recording, etc.

The Eagles, Dixie Chicks, Keith Urban Team Up For Live Nation Show

The tour begins June 8 in Toronto; while only eight dates are being announced, it is possible that more may be added. Urban appears on five of the eight shows.

The Eagles are one of the highest-grossing touring bands in history. This will be the first Dixie Chicks tour since 2006.

The tour will feature all-in ticket pricing, which incorporates various service fees into the overall ticket price, thus eliminating unpopular add-on fees.
An American Express pre-sale begins March 22, with sales to the general public beginning a week later.
Here are the tour dates:
June 8: Toronto, ON (Rogers Centre)
June 10: East Rutherford, NJ (New Meadowlands Stadium)
June 12: Boston, MA (Gillette Stadium)
June 14: Philadelphia, PA (Citizens Bank Ball Park)
June 15: Washington, DC (Nationals Park)
June 19: Chicago, IL (Soldier Field)
June 22: Winnipeg, MB (Canad Inna Stadium)
June 24: St. Louis, MO (Busch Stadium)
