Religious-right leader (Rekers) ensnared in gay travel-assistant scandal threatens suit
George Alan Rekers, the co-founder of the Family Research Council who has admitted hiring a gay man as a travel assistant for a trip to Europe (Rekers claims that he did not know the man was gay), is threatening to sue for defamation. He aims his fire at the Miami New Times, which broke the story.

"If today’s news story in the Miami New Times is accurate," said Rekers in an e-mail to me, "I have been advised to retain the services of a defamation attorney in this matter, because the fact is that I am not gay and never have been."

<snip>

"My travel assistant did in fact lift my luggage each time it was necessary," says Rekers, adding that he "did not hire him as a prostitute for sexual services" and "explained the Christian faith" to him.

<snip>

Here are the four questions that I sent my travel assistant at his request two days ago, together with the answers we agreed on in our phone conversation this afternoon:

The ONLY person Rekers is fooling is himself!

1. Sad thing is, I think Rekers really is fooling himself.
He believes the religious hatred heaped upon his own head is justified and sanctified. It has deformed his soul. There is a part of me that hurts for him. Does that make me a bad person?

3. No...
...it is pathetic to watch him lie. Your feelings are your feelings...but I do not feel sorry for him.

I might feel badly for IF he had not done so much harm to some ~~ like testifying in favor of laws that would prevent gays from adopting. He can deny all he wishes that he is gay ~~ I could not care less what he says about his sexual orientation. That simply is none of my business. However, he has intentionally tried to do harm and, thus, I have less than -0- sympathy.

2. I always try to get a baggage handler with a big, uncut cock and a tight butt.
Doesn't everyone?

There's nothing at all suspicious here.

Really, you people should stop tormenting poor Dr. Rekers.

4. Of course! I used to have one that made dinner and dusted too!
Then I dumped him for cheating on me with a woman and for drinking all my beer. I call it a boyfriend. Reekers calls it a "sin".

7. Not to mention one skilled at the "long stroke".....
All of this brings to mind a certain dirty joke about rabbis, foreskins and luggage.

13. The long stroke is clearly a technique
for placing luggage in the overhead bin.

6. Isn't it standard escort-speak to say they are hired as companions?
They try to make the sex totally unrelated to the financial transaction.

The note does not address whether they had "sexual relations" or whatever more clearly worded phrase can be used to define everything from the "long stroke" to a "lewinsky".

9. Not sure who Rekers is getting legal advice from but no competent trial attorney would

recommend that he sue given the undisputed facts which are now public knowledge....

that is, Rekers took a gay escort on a trip to Italy and shared a hotel room with him.

Not only that, the gay escort - who would surely be put on the stand in any lawsuit - is now saying that Rekers is gay and that he gave him nude massages featuring something called the "long stroke" which involved rubbing the penis. So a reasonable person would say the escort gave Rekers a "hand job" at the least and that it is a form of gay sex. Given that an ironclad defense against slander is evidence that the "slander" was in fact the truth....Rekers is screwed, sot to speak.

Okay, so you're bi.

You still haven't got a chance with any lawsuit.

Try "real" therapy instead before you fuck up anybody else's life,,,,

17. Does he really want to be subjected to the process of discovery?
The info from him and others would be pure amusement. If he perjures himself, he will really dig the hole a lot deeper. That's what can really get people in a lot of trouble.

When Barry Bonds threatened to sue over the steroid stories, I just laughed. He didn't want that can of worms opened.
