Even though we don't use it as much now it's still good for a laugh. The jargon can be pretty confusing at first there's a lot of inside talk.

Has anyone ever interviewed that guy?

Does anybody remember where that photo was taken? If we can get the location, we could put up wanted posters. Designed something like this:

Democratic Underground.com wants to personally thank this person for creating the word "Morans" - showing the intelligence and sensitivity of the few remaining people who think that George Bush is a genius (or "jeanyus") and that over 3000 American lives lost in the Iraq War is just a pool party. We wish to find this man and interview him to see if, despite many heavy blows from reality, he still believes it, and if he misspells any other words.

We will pay $50 to the first person who can positively identify the person, and give us his name, address, phone number and current employment. The money will be paid upon positive confirmation of his identity.

or somewhere in the area, I'd also heard that a DUer actually does know who the moran is. He may well be one of the most infamous internets legends, and will have achieved immortality, a thousand years hence his legend will be grown mighty.

This guy HAS to be identified and interviewed. Hell, give him anonymity if you must. But I just want to know what he is like.

He clearly wasn't paid for by the Republican Party, unless one of their press gangs got him at a bar and offered to pay his beer bill if he held up a sign. Which means something motivates him to support Bush and hate people he doesn't know much about.

Was he a Vietnam vet who got spit on when he came home, and thus hates anything that smacks of liberal or hippie? Was he born in a Klan family and never thought his way out of the box? Did he have a mother or sister heavily involved in liberal causes, who couldn't stop talking about politics until he finally got pissed off? (I've been around some guys with liberal credentials who are like that; I could understand why such a person would infuriate even a rational guy.)

It may not seem like much to you guys, but I'll bet if you sit Mr. Moran down and talk to him a while, you might shed some light on why there's still twenty-odd percent of the public that still like Bush.

I laughed every time I saw tht name.

I remember when I first got on DU and didn't know what some of these terms and initials stood for ..I was beaming when someone name "AmyStrange" turned us newbies on to the DU Glossary!

Course, there's some new terms by now..

Before I knew what LOL! meant I thought I had it figured out that it was "Lots of Luck!" So I still read it as that:)

a term used to describe GWB by a little old lady who died during his first term and left all her estate to getting rid of him. I picture a puckered, whistling orifice as synonymous with GWB.

I will always think of that now when I speak of *. How clever!

This is a great resource. I've been wondering about that n/t stuff all along. But I thought * was in reference to a Kurt Vonnegut book. He drew a picture of an asshole (sphincter) in the front of his book "Breakfast of Champions" as a large asterisk.

It inspired me to keep a large asterisk taped to my desk for years after that
