If they are going to blast anything into the well,
why don't they shoot in something very dense with a material that will expand or is precompressed? I am not a materials scientist so I am not sure what would possibly work if anything.
The density of the material and the blast would try to counteract the force of the oil gushing up. The expansion would help hold together the material used once it grew larger. Shooting in garbage seems like a waste of waste to me.
Of course this is theoretical and has not been tried at the depth of this wellhead. Nothing has.
