why isn't the media asking about the secret cheney energy meetings?
imagine if al gore had secretly met with titans of industry to formulate environmental controls and took his case all the way to the supreme court to keep it secret.

the media would be camped out on his front lawn waiting to remove his head....

this is a disaster and we KNOW who was partly responsible......

5. You didn't ask why he wasn't being prosecuted
You asked why the media wasn't reporting on it. I was merely pointing out that the time to report on it was probably when it was happening. And yes, there is a statute of limitations, if in fact there is criminal liability for the disaster, which started running at the time of the explosion.

16. Sure it is as far as news cycles go..........................
But I've been asking about it since it happened. And you would think that this Gulf disaster would bring it into the light for at least SOME of the MSM.

BTW, I STILL want to know what was discussed in those secret policy meetings.

7. The American Petroleum Institute Has Millions Of Reasons They Didn't...
The corporate media came of age during the boooosh years...money dictated what was covered and what wasn't. Since war coverage meant big money...millions of eyes watching and careers being made (who'd be the next "skud stud") they saw the Iraq invasion as a ratings Superbowl and couldn't cheer on the war mongering enough while ignoring the protests...they knew which side their paycheck was buttered. The same was the case with the oil and energy games of the early years. Enron threw millions in their pockets and no one could figure out why electrical rates went through the roof in California. Only after it was revealed then the corporate media slapped its collective head and said "who knew". Oil companies and their "non-profit" affiliates pump (literally) a lot of money into the media and thus how we ended with "Drill Baby Drill" and an environmental and economic disaster sitting in the Gulf.

The only time the corporate media camps out is when a free sweet table is set up...

12. Because that's "old news"
Edited on Mon May-10-10 08:45 AM by SoCalDem
and the Bush admin effectively managed to convince the press that if they chose to say that phrase over and over, it became truth..

Republicans believe that any embarrassment to their party , that happened 15 minutes ago is "old news"..never-to-be-spoken of ever again..

but

anything that happened to any democrat...even 50 years ago (or even longer if the republican is a southerner) is ALWAYS fodder for "discussion".

the press allows them this courtesy.

14. The media will move on.. They can only air oily critters just so long
and even they tire of it.

Something always comes along to distract them...."ohhh look over there....it shines!"
and every media outlet on tv is highly "sponsored' by oil companies..

there will be memos..trust me

15. What a terrible forced attempt at a smile
I have never seen this guy with a smile that would show he has a soul ! Imagine all that $ and he is still a miserable SOB ! Someday hopefully it will come out how complicet chenney is in 9/11. The company he worked for the company that gave him a early retirement bonus in the muti-millions was set to make and still making billions of dollares off 9/11 and the war that followed ! The "war" has been going on for some ten years now! Another Viet Nam ,no never a year or two and we will be out of there. Is that not what the lying group of corrupt politicians kept telling the American Citizens ! When will a truely independant investigation of Haliburton ,Chenney ,the faker Bush Sr. and Bush Jr.all be held avccountable for the thousands ,perhaps millions of inocent people that have died becasue of their lust for greed and power ! From looking at Chenney its really true $ cant buy you happness.
IMHO, Nick

18. Because The Dick has them by the short hairs
would be my guess. Our media is not doing their job and this, if anyone is interested, began shortly after Nixon's resignation when the right wing decided that in order for them to get 'their message' out they needed to buy up our media corporations. They proceeded to do just that and for the most part have succeeded.
