Jane Hamsher is on Ratigan discussing
the oil spill. One more bail out from the tax payers.

1. I doubt BP is going to pay for the time and equipment of Coast Guard and other public servants who
are working on cleaning up the oil spill?

Who is going to pay for the collapse of Gulf industries like shrimping and tourism?? and the long-term devastation to the environment?

2. Of course not
BP won't worry about those industries and neither will the corrupt politicians from Louisiana.

3. perhaps we should extend the liability to the politicians and other gov groups
that give these companies carte blanche to destroy our coastlines. If any one of them stood to lose EVERYTHING and perhaps even see some jail time - we'd never see this sort of thing again.

Why is it only the little guy who is expected to act and think responsibly?

4. Amazing isn't it
We couldn't escape with leaving our garbage on a beach but they can wipe out a region and continue to count their profits.

5. Good points.
Politicians have nothing to lose and everything to gain by being beholden to the oil industry (among other industries).

They screw things up and they have no consequences, and are instead rewarded with lucrative jobs on K Street, or working for the big bucks in the industry they once whored themselves to as a public servant.

6. That ius why I left the room Ratigan is hard to take alone
pairing him with Hamsher is unbearable.
