The Impending Doom of Glenn Beck
Just remember who we are, we will be the key.....Dom dom dom dom dom dom dom dom dom dom

This is the last stand on earth!

This-is the fusion-of Entertainment & enlightenment.....

Errrr-excuse me for quoting the diatribes of a raving lunatic. But this guy is popular & if anyone has listened to his AM show lately-in a coherent mind-there is a definite psychological trick being played on his listeners. And if these folks are buying it in any fashion-well I'm afraid they are being prepped for an end of times drama as yet disclosed.

Is he conscious of the tricks he is using?. I'd bet the farm on it.

Jingles & phrases....Great messaging & every sales person knows it. He is selling hate & doom. The end game is a switch of sides politically but we all know he wants his little bloody bonus. A fanatic driven to the edge by his rantings to have the courage!-The Honor! The DIGNITY to DO SOMETHING!!!!

And we all know what that something is.

He has a lot of followers and he is pushing pushing pushing.

And of course-when something DOES happen-he cries into his microphone & does his smarmiest cover your ass routine you ever saw. "I pleaded for non violence!"...Yeah-right Glenn.

Fuck Glenn Beck & his listeners. A good motto but as I have listened to him as of late -out of morbid curiosity mind you-I have heard the steady rise in rhetoric. The steady beat of his opening jingle is ominous & it sticks to the cortex like crazy glue. Thats what jingles do after all...

So I'd be a tad worried about his influence if you were not already.

And his listeners that follow him are well & truly ignorant to the point of insanity. And very very angry...

Not a good thing....

1. He is what he is...an irresponsible snake oil salesman. He has the right to do it, but
what is galling is that more mainstream pundits and politicians don't disown or criticize him for it.

These guys with a microphone are there because big business wants them there, but that doesn't mean that others can't expose Beck, Limbaugh, etc. as corporate hacks that lie to their own base to keep them in the dark. Contributes to a polarization of the nation that keeps the people divided and weak.

2. Has anyone ever thought that if we ignore these nuts, they might go away?

Beck, Palin, Hannity et al thrive on getting a reaction. It's what drives their ratings. Can we just get over them already?

3. that won't work. Ever see parents try this trick for an unruly child in a crowded room?
It doesn't work. Why? Because there's plenty of people who will not ignore the child/Beck. We ignore him at our peril. A lot of people wanted to ignore Rush Limbaugh 20-ish years ago and look where that got us.

5. I've heard this tiresome argument for years now. The truth is, there are
"progressives" who make their living watching these guys. And if they ever went away, lots of people would be out of work. I just object to progressive oases like DU being used to promote the idiocy that is known as rightwing world. Sometimes I think Beck, Rush and the rest have their own little interns working sites like this. Out of sight, out of mind, I say. Each to his own taste, I guess.

6. I don't post their crap here, but I do sometimes try to keep abreast of what they are saying
frankly it makes it far easier to shoot down the arguments of their robots when it invariably happens. I find it amusing (and sad) when someone I know says something almost verbatim from Rush/Glenn and I already had a chance to look up the counter-argument, and don't have to think twice explaining to them why they are wrong.

4. How far would they go?
Edited on Tue May-11-10 12:39 PM by agent46
I wouldn't put it past the right-wing corporate theocratic interests to stage a bogus religious "event" to turn the tides and give the signal for open and violent social conflict. There's a lot of advanced new technology that could be used to fool the peasantry into thinking the end times are upon us - signs in the sky and all that.

The masses in Amerika have been isolated, dumbed down, culturally and economically impoverished, brutalized, terrified, provoked and prepared for the return and dominion of their new capitalist jesus-god. Sarah Palin and Glen Beck are stirring the same pot. Their followers are getting ripe for the mind scramble. I only say this because nothing would surprise me these days.

Seems like Beck's pitch is a set-up for new heights in social programming and political theater. It's clear that violence and upheaval are on the menu. Background anxiety is escalating too. Oil catastrophes, earthquakes, volcanoes, tornadoes, accelerated extinctions and climate change only help feed the frenzy and distract the population from recognizing the urgent necessity for radical change from the inside out and the bottom up.
