Oil Spill solutions..
Edited on Tue May-11-10 08:29 PM by EJSTES2005
Why cant they stack up like a 100 or 200 feet of the largest diameter concrete sewer type "tubes" that can be made quickly with a special locking system to hold them in place vertically and then shove as many sucking hoses in as they can ? fill up 20 or more tanker at a time with a water oil mix ?

The maybe gradually make the top larger until they can fit on a multi-hose lid on top ?
I'm no engineer but maybe these fuckers should of had a back up plan since they didn't install the acoustic switches or use adequate concrete base systems.

1. Yea, I was thinking boats unloading gravel and rocks on it.

Thats what I was thinking, just keep heaping up rocks on it till the weight of the rocks is more then the oil.

Not sure if they got boats with rocks. But I like rock love songs, so trying that approach.

But in metaphor.

2. I'm no engineer...
Yup, that we can agree on.

Thanks!! Would be really funny if this weren't such a disaster. Wish we were all crisis engineers today : (

Can't stop it....Maybe we just give up ? Just trying to brainstorm anything at this point : (

4. Well, the Russians nuked their runnaway wells shut.
That's another solution that will solve this immediate problem by creating a far worse problem.

I don't want to go down that route.

Listen, BP fucked up big time. Nobody argues that point.

I'm sure they went against the advice of their best engineers when they made that decision.

Some would argue otherwise.

But the situation now is what it is.

The people working to solve this problem are the elite of the petroleum engineering industry.

We may not like what they are saying. I can understand that. Who wants to hear it will take three months to plug the hole?

But do not be deluded into thinking that you can come up with a better alternative.

5. Einstein once said.....
"Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius — and a lot of courage — to move in the opposite direction.”

Maybe your time would be better spent going in the oppsiste direction and trying and do something other then be a snarky know it all.
