Teacher disappointed in Knox County Republicans' actions (plus pics of poster stolen)
http://knox.villagesoup.com/news/story/teacher-disappointed-in-knox-county-republicans-actions/325341
On May 12, the state office announced the poster was being returned but did not identify who took the poster.

Two local Republicans who were in the room said they were unaware the poster had been taken and instead criticized what they saw in the classroom.

Steven Dyer of Rockland said he was concerned about what was coming out of that school from those students. He said the posters made by students were anti-American, anti-white and anti-religious.

Dyer took photographs of the posters and posted them on his Facebook page.

William Chapman of Rockport also said the posters were very negative about the United States and its military. He said he has received a number of complaints about the posters.

One poster cited by Dyer was a collage that showed former President George W. Bush without eyes and saying, "I can still see the face of evil." Dyer said he was also offended by a poster that had a swastika in the place of the "O" for FOX News.

Chapman said he was offended by the poster that portrayed the Nestle company in a poor light for its efforts to extract water for its Poland Spring bottling plants.

The teacher, however, said these critics have completely missed the point.

4. right along with their supporters too
I live in Knox county....and honestly the teabaggers are a minority around here. They are just getting a lot of publicity lately for managing to get the republican platform changed. A majority of republicans are not impressed by this.

It's certainly entertaining for me.... I know all of the people involved in it too. This, I think is going to have some serious local repercussions. Guaranteed.

5. Knox county Republicans again.
Edited on Thu May-13-10 09:02 AM by Gormy Cuss
I wonder how they're view by the rest of the Republicans in the state. Many ME Repubs are of the Yankee moderate variety.

eta: the poster was in Portland, the liberal stronghold of the state, and in a classroom that's in the most ethnically diverse middle school in the state. It's also the school that received media attention a while back because its student health clinic dispensed birth control. I'm sure the pinheads from Knox county thought they were in the lion's den.

and Obama's election was the icing on the cake.

They are racist so-called Libertarians who worship Ayn Rand

13. I know about those states, as well as my own (Texas)
And I expect that from my state. But Maine? I never knew.

3. Well it's pretty obvious who took the poster... the Knox County GOP.
The state GOP issued the apology and the county guys just keep on tea-bagging.

11. Republicans marginalizing themselves can only be a good thing.
Palin lost the election for McCain. The republican base is not the teabag movement and the majority of voters are not Fox News or Rush Limbaugh groupies. The crazier the repubs get, the more optimistic I feel.

14. I wonder how far away from Dayton, Tenn they all are...
Free speech is okay only as long as it doesn't tick off the local Republicans...

16. Wonder why no one is being arrested for it.
If one of us wandered up to a school and snatched a poster off the wall while riffling through the teacher's stuff I have little doubt we'd at the very least be arrested for vandalism.
