Don't look now, but the lefty insurgents could be on the verge of scoring not one, but two major victories next week.

People aren't focused enough on this. But let's step back and put it in a larger context: If Joe Sestak defeats Arlen Specter on Tuesday, and Blanche Lincoln is forced into a runoff, it will represent a major rebuke to the Dem establishment. The Tea Partiers and the ouster of Charlie Crist and Robert Bennett have sucked up most of the media oxygen, but it's very possible that a similarly dramatic upheaval is about to happen on the left.

The Dem establishment, as is their role, has gone to extraordinary lengths to protect Specter and, to a lesser extent, Lincoln. Obama's political operation is cranking out calls for Specter, and the DSCC is funding Specter's TV ads.

Meanwhile, there are indications that the Dem Senate leadership may be delaying a watering down of Lincoln's proposal on derivatives to avoid embarrassing her before Tuesday.

Anything can happen between now and Tuesday. But Sestak has now edged ahead of Specter in multiple polls, and Lincoln's campaign has now conceded that she'll likely endure a runoff with Lieutenant Governor Bill Halter, which Halter could very well win.

This is all rather surprising, to put it mildly.

'TRADE SECRET' voting machine 'market,' and which is even scarier than Diebold as to far rightwing connections, has the capability--the EASY capability--of dealing blows to these leftist hopes. I can't say that they will. No one can. I don't know what their long term scenario for utilitzing this EASY capability is. I'm just say what they are capable of, that we have no--zero, zip--recourse against.

Political analysis should include this fact--the bottom line non-transparency of our vote counting system, and control of it by a far rightwing-connected corporation.

This may be why the corpo-fascist press feels confidence in predicting that the Pukes who crashed our economy, looted us blind, sent us into debt for seven generations, tortured prisoners and slaughtered a hundred thousand innocent people to steal their oil, are somehow--inexplicably--making a comeback, and why they feel confident in ignoring the elections you mention. They have also completely ignored the privatization and engineered non-transparency of our voting system.

He's probably to the right of Lincoln on numerous issues.

Doesn't matter, though. I would like to see both Sestak and Halter win. It's the only chance to hold onto both seats.
