1. Wonder if they get a tax write off for "their" donation.

they'll probably take a tax writeoff for it. Like Ronald McDonald House.

3. I hate at the convenience store when they ask "would you like to donate a dollar..."
Because the final results are that XXX Stores are great and wonderful because they raised $xxx in donations. And they pat theirselves on the back to the point of dislocations of elbows and shoulders. They never say, "thank you to our customers for these donations." They say WE raised it. To which I say... "raise THIS!"

6. There was a donation can at the Kwik Shop in Baldwin City (Ks), too
It didn't occur to me that they might take credit for the actual donation, rather than for providing an opportunity for folks to donate. Interesting.

Still, credit for the donation is pretty low on my list of priorities right now. I'm just thankful that there appear to be quite a few places that are soliciting donations right now. God knows, the people of Greensburg need all of the help they can get right now.

I appreciate your take on how WalMart might portray the source the funds, though. I see collection cans like that from time to time, but it's never occurred to me that they might be presented to the recipients as a corporate donation, rather than a grassroots effort.
