Edited on Tue May-18-10 11:24 AM by RKP5637
important things like pole dancing... that's just way too important to be concerned about wars, the economy and the future of this place loosely called a country. That's OK, a couple of prayer sessions will fix the country. The fundy christians know how to fix everything... after all, they talk directly to their god.

7. I'm still waiting for the movie, miniseries, prequel and podcast on that one
The average media-fed human never transcends above the level of a simple child, fascinated by the bright, shiny object waved back and forth across its face.

10. Sad, but true
I can always tell when things arent going the way the PTB want, the MSM finds another Enquirer style story to run 24/7 so the real news never gets told.

8. Sigh. If I get a new body when I go to heaven, I want that one, and I want to be able to
pole dance like that. Hate being 49 and over the hill. :( Oh well. I had my time in the sun and actually took pretty full advantage of it at the time....

12. The freepers have compiled a list of Rima Fakih tinfoil hat conspiracy theories as long as my arm...
...I didn't post any of them here...to effin' crazy, even by MY standards. But the best one was that she was "installed" as Miss USA by Hezbollah, so that she could function as an "undercover instrument of their work."

You can't make this stuff up, folks.

Well...I take that back. SOMEONE made it up.

13. Which was performed in front of an all FEMALE audience
doesn't make sense does it, except the republicans don't want an Arab-American to win the title. Wonder how they would try to disqualify Miss Universe if she was Arab American.

performed at weddings and other festive occasions in many Arab countries. Years ago I befriended a Lebanese family. I worked with their daughter. They were very cosmopolitan and spoke French. We are so used to the nun-like images of abused and veiled women from the ME that we don't realize that many Arab women are quite modern and liberated in their thinking.

18. The important story here is the racism of those who oppose a Muslim winner.
That IS an important issue, no matter how silly the contest leading to the win.
