Don't tug on Superman's cape, don't spit into the wind -- and for heaven's sake, don't tell senior citizens in Bakersfield they can't display their beloved Stars and Stripes.

That's a public relations lesson the managers of Harmony Court Senior Apartments aren't likely to forget anytime soon.

For a couple days, Harmony Court residents have been seeing red, white and blue after some residents were told by management to remove American flags displayed outside their apartments.

But In a prepared statement Tuesday, Los Angeles-based Brackenhoff Management Group, the corporation that operates the center, said residents can fly their flags to their hearts' content as long as the display doesn't cause a safety problem.

"We shook them up a little bit," said resident Rosemary Bartell.
