9. What were his poll numbers?
He didn't lose in a primary. He lost in a group of elite wingnuts. He's got a 50% approval rating in the state which is low compared to Hatch (65%), but he also gets 43% approval from Dems. I think he can wreak a lot of havok on that race.

17. To further ruin your snark, Utah has the highest literacy rate in the nation.

10. If I were him, I'd go write-in. The Dem wouldn't win - he would.
If there were a GOP primary, he would have won. Their wacko party system screwed him. I do not see an opportunity for a Democrat to win though...

19. No way for the Dem to win here in Utah but I'd love to see Bennett do a write in.
Obama got 33% (ish) here. Kerry got 24% here. This is a deep red state. (Primarily because of the Mormon church and abortion, Dems had a majority as recently as the early 70s. Only one dem has won a state wide election in 20 years here.)

I'd like to see Bennett in it because:

1. Hatch is against it. (Who would he support? The Tea Partiers say they are coming after him next so if he supports Bennett he pisses off the "base").

2. It would show the Tea Partiers they can take over a party convention but can't win an election.

Bennett would win as a write in.
