So Texas is changing it's textbooks to.....
create hate?
create future Republicans or Tea-Party peeps?
create more business owners who will break laws and discriminate?
to model themselves after Countries that with-hold information to brain wash their people?
to get more NRA members? (I mean, really, they have a little over 4 mill. members and yet tell the Country of over 309 mill. what to do!)
to start more wars?
to breed more white people?

Would someone explain to me how they can get by with this?

10. TX prints a majority of the textbooiks used by children around the U.S. They are

revising history, removing Thomas Jefferson, shedding a more benign light on McCarthy, .........also they will try to paint the Founding Fathers as more "religious".

THERE ARE 13 CHRISTIAN EVANGELICALS ON THE BOARD THAT DECIDE WHAT WILL GO INTO THE TEXTBOOKS!

14. The Publishing Houses are in co-hoots I will bet. I will bet the books have all ready gone to print.
I used to work at a College bookstore and many of the text-book publishers were conservatives.

17. The publishers have almost no choice in the matter.
Texas's state wide adoption has ruled the textbook market for decades.

21. It looks like the state board of education is elected.
So I guess you could theoretically elect a group of people who would say that the US was colonized by alien beings from another planet.

I wonder how many of the people sitting on that board could pass an 8th grade civics test, an 8th grade US history test. They don't seem too interested in the factual basis of the nation's history, only in pushing their extreme ideology.

What's next? Rewriting the science curriculum to include textbooks showing illustrations of humans riding dinosaurs?

22. Teabaggers are targeting local elected positions like these
They're having some success already in electing their own people and gaining majority control of some boards, commissions, town councils, etc.

So "textbooks showing illustrations of humans riding dinosaurs" is not so far-fetched. :(

23. they are extremists, like the taliban, who want to lie to children to create their own "reality"
one in which Jefferson isn't an important part of our nation's history.

they are simply evil stupid fucks.

they are politicizing the entire textbook industry in the U.S. because they have no decency. they have no decency because they are religious totalitarians.

religious totalitarians are one of the evils of the world the founders sought to keep in check.

The POLITICAL doctrine that the U.S. does not have a national religion is enshrined in the Treaty of Tripoli - as far as the founders' intent goes - along with the "no establishment" clause. The treaty states, without hesitation, that we are not a christian nation.

If I were a teacher in Texas, I would print out the Treaty of Tripoli and post it on a bulletin board and ask students to write about it - what is means to the U.S. as a nation in regard to religious freedom.

If the religious totalitarians want to force their beliefs on children, we have an obligation to those children to stop this cult brainwashing.
