WaPo article suggests that if Reid loses his seat, Schumer and Durbin are the
two most likely contenders for Majority Leader. If their assessment is correct, who would you rather see in that position?

1. Remember Durbin blubbering on the Senate floor?
after being bullied into a forced apology for telling the truth about Abu Grahib?

Yeah, um, that's not the kind of leadership I want among the Senate Democrats.

2. Barbara Boxer. She'd get things done!
I know that wasn't one of the choices, but I couldn't decide between Durbin and Schumer.

Who do you like better?

5. Counting chickens should let left to Reid's opponent.
I think it is a sorry thing to be talking about this man's demise,
when we need all of the Democrats we need. Fuck WAPO....they are just
trying to start shit....and all they need are a few willing patsies.

7. Just trying to start shit?
You are mighty naive if you don't think ambitious men like Schumer and Durbin are actively posturing behind the scenes to succeed Reid as majority leader should he fail to win reelection.

9. I know he doesn't have the seniority but we need someone like
AL FRANKEN.

10. Agree, but that wasn't the question. IF it does indeed come down to those
two, I was just curious as to who would be preferable to DUers.

It may very well not be either, but sadly I don't think it would be Franken because, as you mention, his lack of seniority.

Reid might win re-election. Conventional Wisdom has been wrong many times and we've been might surprised at some of the outcomes.

12. Durbin, not Schumer. Definitively not Schumer, who would stab his best friend in the back

if he thought he could get some advantage, but is so adverse to risk that he did not even want to filibuster any of Bush SC nominee. This is the type of leadership we could expect. What is good for me, not what is good for the country.
