As a person with a little background in ecology. 2.3. from Ohio University in Environmental Biology :wow:
1) The response to this problem must be federalized and given top priority. It is now very clear BP has been
lying about the size of the undersea gushers of oil and gas and of the ecological problems these toxins will
cause to the environment. The very real potential of stress to the supportive capacity of the planet is there
w/ a nonstop stream of oil and dynamics of the inter-ocean currents should no be down played. That oil
leak must be stopped ASAP. Obama needs to GET OFF HIS ASS NOW!
2) The oil disbursements being sprayed on the spill have the real potential of making the problem worse.
It DOES NOT change the basic chemical make of oil but just spreads it out. For any sort of ecological mitigation
the oil should be "as together as possible" in order to try to collect it. The toxic nature of what BP is using
needs to be looked at too.
3) We need to build the most massive ark (as in noah's ark) ever in order to save as many living species
as possible in a nursery / animal rescue areas as we can. I mean we need to harvest coral and grow it elsewhere
w/ the goal being its reintroduction when the environment can support it. The same goes for the American
Crocodile, the mangroves, Key deer, beach grasses, fishes, turtles, oysters, and so on. The protection of
that genetic material for future generations is critical. BP w/ the contract for 1/4 of all the oil in
Iraq can damn well afford to pay for this too. Haliburton & Transocean can pony up too.
This very theoretical saving of the biological make up of the area effected by this disaster will be generational
in nature. But it is something that must be done.
