30. I would have to agree with you, since that and what I've seen recently
are the only things I know about him. Everything I've seen makes him out to be a total idiot or tool for the GOP.

It would help if I could find my keys... (just kidding, but that's kinda where I'm at right now!)

9. More or less inadvertently, Rand exposed Mitch McConnell as a paper tiger.
McConnell had his own pal picked for that job and the Rand effort upended it in a big and public way.

Thick as the Republicans are, even a few of their leadership knows that if the Baggers can upend the Senate Minority Leader they will be emboldened to strike elsewhere, splitting resources and loyaltiies among GOP primary voters.

Which would be fine with me. May chaos rain on their heads.

12. And DeMint Hopes You're Right...
McChinless has been tap dancing with the baggers and the wingnuts since he became leader. He's seen the party...where he was once the unhinged right move even further right and more unhinged. We're already hearing grumbling of how Mitchie isn't "conservative enough". Boner also is starting to take some heat...no matter how unhinged they try to be, their not the "true believers".

If the GOOP fails to retake the Senate this year (probable) watch for Mitchie to get challenged by a DeMint...whose worked hard the past two years to be the teabagger's favorite Senator. Even if the GOOP somehow does win the Senate, Mitchie could face a challenge as those elected will be further to the right and will probably have the power to take over party leadership.

13. Hi, KharmaTrain. Agree. The Republicans let these people in the front
door of their party and now the Baggers and kooks and crazies are drinking up all the good booze.

McConnell just does not strike me as the Zorro type. He can no more stop their ascent than Lincoln and is no less dead.

DeMInt. O my god. I wish that sounded way off, but it doesn't.

:hi:

22. Libertarians are just conservative extremists who are trying to sound smart.
Libertarianism, just like conservative extremism, is a cult and their members have most of the same cult-like thoughts, allegiances and behaviors.

Rand Paul is political toast.

26. And I'm not allowed to comment on DU's Rand fetish unless you say it's OK?
You'd think this guy was the second coming of Ronald Reagan the way threads about him dominate GD. There are probably more Rand Paul threads on Page 1 than there are threads about the Gulf oil leak.

20. If elected, how will Dr. No bring home the bacon to Kentuckians?
That will be the big question for Kentucky voters in November.

28. I doubt he will bring home the bacon.
Which is why I won't vote for him. I want a politician who'll loot the more prosperous states for the purpose of enriching me and my fellow Bluegrass buddies.

Time for the rest of US to pony up and float our boat with their money.

32. Having a father with the financial means to send him through medical school
and yet still be able to smirk about the virtues of rugged individualism.

(and before you get up all in my face, no I don't actually know whether his father actually paid for his college, and that isn't really the point -- it's that through no effort of his own, he was born into a family that was able to provide a good education to him)
