Wingnut logic on the oil spill: "It's not our fault!"
drill-baby-drill proponents wanted drilling much closer to shore - you know, in shallower water. Had the leak happened in say 1000 ft, it would most likely have been capped within days. So making them drill far out to sea in mile-deep water made it much more difficult to resolve the leak. Of course, it could just as well have been the Chinese drilling at the same place - and if that was the case, what leverage would the U.S. government have over them to plug the leak? You should think things through before you condemn a good company trying to do the right thing. Would you rather we stop all oil exploration and buy it all from the Arabs?

3. They are basically crazy lunatics. Reality? What's that?
Comprehension? Who cares?

They think everyone in the world should look, think, and act like they do. Thank goodness that's not reality.

5. Unbelievable, yes
What is shocking is the safety disregard from our government and the drilling companies. Dead batteries in the shutoff mechanism, no full cap of concrete. Considering the cost benefit ratio, the simple economics, political and monetary, and the forever effusiveness of the I told you so, so lets do nothing from here on out crowd (read no-nukes crowd) it's a disaster.

6. The nukes are going to be treated by private business the same way this oil rig was treated..
And when a nuke finally causes some huge disaster there will be umpteen cries of: "no one could have predicted"..
