WTF??? Obama OFA fundraising email... is this for real?
I got a fundraising email from President Obama, talking about the passage of financial reform (They Backed Down).

He's asking for 125 dollars donations "or more".

Obviously the wont reject smaller contributions, but this just comes off as totally clueless... a 125 dollars "ask"??? Who the hell came up with that figure?

Can you donate $125 or more today to help Organizing for America continue to mobilize thousands -- to counter the special interests' attacks and get strong Wall Street reform to my desk?

If the goal is to seem totally out of touch with average Americans, "Mission Accomplished".

(I'm no Obama basher -- this just seems totally clueless on the part of OFA)

5. I received the same e-mail but was not offended....
I'm not donating but I did donate to Jack Conway yesterday. Ps. It gives you an option of how much you want to give, $10 is the lowest or you can type in an amount.

Ps. Love your disclaimer at the bottom because most people fed up with Obama have already canceled their e-mail notifications or at least that is what I have read, so for you to still be on it I knew you couldn't be that mad.

13. I give all the time, too... but I'm never "asked" at this level - it's absurd
I donated to Bill Halter and Joe Sestak multiple times - and I don't live in those states - for example.

I just find the request for 125 dollars to be very alienating.

Somebody - I think it's Al Franken - asks for 10 dollars. I often respond to requests like that, at various levels. 125 dollars sounds clueless. Oh, I'm sure there are people who give that and more- they're probably not contacted for donations in an anonymous email.

12. That actually makes sense.
Edited on Sat May-22-10 06:06 PM by RandomThoughts
5 by 5 is a comment by Faith from Buffy show. So another 5 on it makes 125.

So I think it makes sense. Five cubed. Is what it is saying. Not sure if I agree with it. But there are ways to see many things. And for those that don't know 5 is also Roman V, sometimes vengence, depends how you see it. So it could be a claim from that perspective.

When was the post, might be linking to the post about the movie of 'the cube'.

19. Well doesn't it make sense?
Edited on Sat May-22-10 06:44 PM by RandomThoughts
Why else pick 125 unless it is to say 5 is cubed.

or 5 by 5 by 5 from Faith.

Is there another reason to say five cubed.

Could be saying extra dimensional square also.

Although cubed could be bad, their are clips about bad side of cube.

This shows a Dalek and a Zod being bad
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3heVyyQ5YIw

This shows them in the bad cube of their own making
So it is about rules applied back in my view.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LicU5IBRxk8

You have to watch the sequence, the mostly good prisoners lifing heavy arms, rose fighting the daleks, response of arms to arms by guy that was hurting prisoners, then the bad guy thrown down into the cube of his own making. It is in the sequencing. It is not about the singers or anything in my view. Just interesting.

And note I did not make any of the clips, so not part of what I think on, although there are many good songs and stories I like to think on.

My point is it could be good, the comment by Faith, or it could be bad, the bad cube. Not saying which one it is. Just find it interesting.

26. Well, I'll tell you who won't be asking for their money back,
and in fact, will be giving a whole lot more money to
those they believe will help them.

That's right, 87% of donations from the oil industry went to the GOP in 2008.
But of course, we don't need to keep that in mind.....
that would be too elementary.

29. And?
That's supposed to be solely this President's fault?

You fucking think that this disaster is a 30 minute sitcom,
and somehow the government is a fairy godmother?

What is happening is a horrible tragedy, much of it caused
by a country who collectively allowed the possibility
of this to happen. Maybe not you or me personally, but enough folks
didn't have a real problem with much of this till now that it is too late.

The government has been getting drowned in the bathtub for 30 years,
and yet folks expect in 15 months for the government to not only walk on water,
but to go underneath it and plug that shit up and everything is cool?

Hell, that reminds me of those who actually expect Obama to pull jobs out of his ass
for everyone who needs one? Can't happen, things ain't exactly set up for government
to run every goddamn thing there is......and we didn't elect a socialist, so Obama
wasn't gonna (nor would he be allowed by congress) to nationalize everything.

Being frustrated and angry is one thing; that's totally understantable...
but aiming it anywhere just cause you can is something all together different.

The petty partisan BS around this is obscene.

People are demanding that we not express outrage, or any dissent or criticism, lest it hurt some politician's image.

I agree the spill is not his fault. But we are losing an entire ecosystem while that oil continues to flow. Someone needs to stop the leak and do so ASAP. And even if it isn't Obama's fault he will pay the price for it in 2012.

27. So, You Are Against The Passage of the Financial Reform Bill?
It is amazing what passes for "liberalism" these days. Somehow, folks who oppose health care reform and financial reform, and prefer the status quo until we have some idealogically pure bill, are considered liberals.

30. What's even more amazing
Is that anyone actually believes you can "reform" a corrupt system by handing over all power to the very people who corrupted it in the first goddamn place. (i.e the insurance industry with the so called "health care reform" bill, and the private criminal wall street banking system including the "Federal" reserve, with this new piece of shit bill)

33. That's OK, I got two solicitations from DNC last week
At the end of their questionnaire. In the section about priorities for the DNC, I ranked re-electing Obama in 2012 last. In the comments section, I said I no longer supported DNC, DLC, DSCC, or DCCC because they do not support progressive liberal candidates. Just below that where they asked for contributions I wrote in big letters - NO - see above.

I'm glad they sent me two of the things so I could repeat it.
