Stressed US Military

so why is this so important?

For those NOT familiar with the Table of Organization and Equipment of the US Military this might not be too significant, but for those of you who are.. this colonel had command not of a Regiment, their usual place in the command structure, but a BRIGADE which is usually under the command and authority of a Brigadier General, not a Colonel.

this is just one more piece in the puzzle, and yes he could have been given command while waiting for the promotion, but essentially you have an O-6 doing the job of an O-7

We hope he recovers, but more pieces in the damn puzzle

Brigade combat teams are generally commanded by a colonel (O-6), in some rare instances they will be commanded by a brigadier general.
