MANKATO - Chuck Anton tells a version of a story that has been told several time now: He says his 2007 Toyota Camry accelerated unexpectedly and he couldn't do anything to stop it.

In Anton's case, he was at the bottom of a highway exit ramp in Mankato, and he said he rear-ended the Audi sitting in front of him.

"Every time I hit the brake, it lurched," he said. "The first thing you do is, you think 'brake.'"

But he said stepping on the brake didn't work. In fact, he said he hit the brake three times, and each time, the car shot forward.

Anton had just dropped off his girlfriend, Linda Chory, who owns the car.

"This Toyota has been totally maintenance free," she said. "Three and a half years we've owned the car."

Anton said neither car was damaged badly in the incident, which happened Monday. The Camry, with a few scratches on its front bumper, was towed to Heintz Toyota, the Mankato dealership where Chory purchased the car.
