Poll question: Head to head: Gore or Edwards?
I post this one only because it's a tougher choice and I don't know how the voting will break out.

10. Now that I don't agree with-I like Kerry more than Edwards
Edited on Mon May-07-07 04:11 PM by Reterr
I like Edwards but I don't agree with that comparison. I think Kerry was the better part of the Kerry/Edwards ticket. Its subjective :).

33. What'd you think of all the things McAlluffe did from 2000-2004 to
protect our votes?

How well did he manage to stop the voter suppression after 2000?

How well did the DNC's infrastructure work in 04? Whose job was that from 1996-2004 to make sure Democrats had a solid infrastructure and money in the banks so that candidates could actually run in a more fair race?

What'd you think of the Democratic talking heads on places like CNN, MSGOP, Fox, ABC, NBC, or CBS? Did they did deep and stand by their candidate or was Dean and Clarke the only ones to speak truth to the media?

All of those things come under one category: Democratic infrastructure. And who was given that job title that did such a heck of a job?

34. do you have a source on MacAuliffe working to stop vote suppression?
The top of the party seemed kind of off the radar on that issue until Dean took over.

35. Did I say he "stopped"? No. I didn't. I said he didn't DO IT.
There's a huge difference between neglect and actively stopping something.

BUT it was HIS JOB to do it and he failed to do his job properly. From 2000 until 2004 when Dean replaced him, he made a promise to NEVER let us get "Gore'd" again. But instead, 4 years after the Florida election, there were no better election systems in FL or anywhere. 4 Years after the election, he did nothing to help those who were illegally purged get reinstated. 4 years long, he wasn't building the infrastructure across this country.

Dean is proof what effort it takes to be a chairperson. What the heck McAuliffe was doing is anybody's guess. But he sure wasn't doing his job properly!

26. Pretty irresponsible comparison you just made. Pretty disgusting to
compare a standout Democratic lawmaker who has effected this nations' history as positively and as IMPORTANTLY as Kerry has over the last 3 decades to someone who is working for absolutely opposite goal particularly over the last five years.

Need we remind you of the Kerry/Feingold/Boxer bill last sping? Kerry sponsored it; Lieberman didn't sponsor it and didn't even side with dems.

Need we remind you of the Alito filibuster? Kerry started it; Lieberman voted against it.

Need we remind you of the years of Sierra Club awards to John Kerry and Al Gore?
Kerry won many; Lieberman won none.

8. Edwards was on Gore's short list for VP in 2000....
A snippet from: http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9F07EED7133CF934A3575BC0A9669C8B63&n=Top%2fReference%2fTimes%20Topics%2fPeople%2fE%2fEdwards%2c%20John

With just hours to go until his self-imposed deadline of noon on Tuesday, Vice President Al Gore huddled with close aides and family members tonight to make his decision on a vice presidential running mate.

Speculation continued to center on four Democrats in the Senate -- John Kerry of Massachusetts, John Edwards of North Carolina, Joseph I. Lieberman of Connecticut and Evan Bayh of Indiana -- although Mr. Gore raised the possibility last week that he might pick a ''wild card.''

I chose Edwards in your poll, but I know Gore is the only unannounced candidate that can declare up to the day before the first caucus, and probably do well. But I don't think he will.

15. "Speculation," not Gore, said Edwards was on the list.
according to your quoted text. ex-Sen Gore from TN teaming with unknown Senate novice Edwards from NC? That wouldn't have made much sense.

17. Probably why I voted for Bush in 2000 ?
The choice of Lieberman lost a lot of Dems my friend. Including me.

Do some homework, or at least read the link....Kerry and Edwards WERE on the short list. D'oh. So stop peeing on my leg and telling me it's raining.

12. "Tougher choice"?? Nay, it's man versus boy.
C'mon, Edwards is... um, nice. But he's not in the same league as Kerry, Daschle, Feingold, Gore, Clinton, Obama, Wes Clark, Kennedy, Reid, Biden, or even Richardson. He's more a Mike Dukasis type, but without the gravitas.

I posted something critical of Edwards on my blog, but that doesn't mean I don't like the guy.

He may be the strongest of the top three in the race.

linked to your blog dissing the Edwards camp by other DUers, okay a couple, so sorry if I've lost track.

I know you better on Dkos. :hi: Pretty rough over there, huh? Member moderation and all...

Please don't think the DUers are as stupid as you hope they'd be. WE are not.

29. I don't think DUers are stupid, it was the Kosers response that surprised me.
If somebody linked me to support a candidate over Edwards, they missed my point. Of the top 3, I would put Edwards half a head above Obama. If electability weren't an issue, it would be Kucinich or Gravel.

30. I might have touchy too because both places there is a strong chorus of "cheerlead or shut up"
As if we can't ask even candidates we like hard questions.

Like if I ever met Kucinich, I'd ask him if being a vegetarian is more important than winning over some rednecks who think vegetarians are new age loonies.
