Dispersant's

What is there purpose?
I realize they disperse the oil but that sounds counterintuitive to me.
Wouldn't floating oil globs be easier to wick up?

Speaking of which.
Why is the area relying on fishing boats and such to drag oil booms around instead of say our military dragging many more and larger absorbent booms?

1. If the oil is not dispersed then it would be easier to figure out exactly how much oil has been

spilled. The main, and perhaps the ONLY reason that BP is using disperants is to hide the huge enormity of the crime they have committed.

3. Thanks. I am so angry and so frustrated by this entire disaster that I have no time or tolerance for

bullshit. I tell it like I see it..and there are no redeeming qualities whatsoever about BP and its corporate leadership.

4. Phillipe Costeau outed them.

He went on a little underwater filming session in the Gulf today. Unfreakingbelievable! They filmed him under the submerged plumes. Looked like storm clouds above his head. You really have to see this:

7. Dispersants are used

For the same reason you use dishwashing liquid to break up grease when you're washing dishes.

The dispersant breaks down the slick which is toxic to beaches, marshes and the animals that inhabit them. Bacteria and sunlight break down the oil further and it is diluted by the immense quantity of water in the gulf. Dispersants are used to protect the shoreline and fragile ecosystems, perhaps at the expense of the fish that inhabit the waters.

8. The apostrophe makes your title word possessive, not plural as you intended.

It's dispersants, not dispersant's.
