I'm watching the BP live stream. Anybody else?
http://www.bp.com/liveassets/bp_internet/globalbp/globalbp_uk_english/homepage/STAGING/local_assets/bp_homepage/html/rov_stream.html

Here's BP's notation under the video:
"Please be aware, this is a live stream and may freeze or be unavailable from time to time.

Throughout the extended top kill procedure – which may take up to two days to complete - very significant changes in the appearance of the flows at the seabed may be expected. These will not provide a reliable indicator of the overall progress, or success or failure, of the top kill operation as a whole. BP will report on the progress of the operation as appropriate and on its outcome when complete."

Their screen just went blank for a few minutes, so I'm also watching at: http://www.livestream.com/wkrg_oil_spill

this is not shown in that graphic. this is pushed into a wellbore and typically used for well intervention operations.

3. I think they are trying to pick up a hose with a robotic arm right now
Edited on Wed May-26-10 04:54 AM by Swamp Rat
4951.3 ft blow sea level

problem is they keep stirring up sediment from the sea floor.

I wonder if this hose assembly is connected to the choke on the BOP?

5. I wish they'd put a cam on the person(s) controlling the joystick. That would be a kick to watch.

Yes, I'd like to see them operate the ROVs, but BP would not likely allow this.

8. Swampy, I'm not getting the feed you're watching so I don't know if this
is the same shot, but this appears as though they're concentrating on something laying on the floor bed. You're the resident expert, and much appreciated!

What do you think?

It is ahead of all the others I have seen posted here on DU.

It looks like they may be looking at the hoses that go to the choke.

11. The spillcam is pointed away from the device that I saw on the sea floor,
Edited on Wed May-26-10 05:24 AM by Swamp Rat
but I believe that part is supposed to be connected to a choke valve that is attached to the christmas tree which is fitted to the wellhead. The BOP is above it.

I can see the flexible hoses now

showing the gusher now
