Palin potential 2012 presidential bid dead in the water?
I for one can't see her even being nominated after the BP disaster since she advocated off shore oil drilling.

It would be too much of a target topic in a presidential debate. Here we now have CONCRETE EVIDENCE of the destructive results of HER (and a great many conservatives) policies in action. Even BEFORE she has taken any office! They wanted to drill and this is the result.

It's an indefensible position now. We can't destroy the earth for oil. Period. You lose.

She (and conservatives) can talk and imagine about how bad Left policies are all they want but we now have concrete physical evidence that her policies are destructive.

We need to stress this in arguing and debating with conservatives.

2. She was done when she quit the governorship halfway through her only term.
The only reason she's so "popular" is she's such a train wreck, it's hard to stop rubbernecking to see what the fuck she's going to do next.

3. She's just eye candy for the baggers
Edited on Thu May-27-10 09:58 AM by notadmblnd
they don't really believe she's qualified for public office. It's sad that republican men are so starved for sex that they need to resort to fantasizing about a back woods Alaskan MILF. It's either that or prostitutes, I guess:shrug:

11. Same here. She would clinch Obama's re-election.
She destroyed McCain's campaign. I'd love to see her get the nomination.

The only downside would be having to look at her and hear about her constantly on the TV in the months leading up to the election.

But even teabaggers know she's not presidential material, so the chances of her getting the repub nomination are slim to zilch.

She would make the primary a DISASTER of enjoyable proportions. :nuke:

16. Is there any prominant Republican that would not Clinch Obama's victory?
I know of none that could come even close.

5. Deity knows I hope not!
Even if she will never be nominated, running in the primaries will push all other Greedy Oil Party candidates from the fringe right to the nutburger right.

6. She's more interested in making money (big money) on the speaking tour.
There seem to be enough Tea Party conventions or republican base get-togethers who will pay what it takes for her. Holding out the possibility of running in 2012 makes her a more attractive speaker to right wingers, as does her lame performance on FOX.

8. Which is precisely why I expect to see her run for the nomination.
Edited on Thu May-27-10 10:00 AM by WeDidIt
If she doesn't, then other rightwing nutbags will get all the press and she'll become an afterthought.

She won't be in it to win it. She'll be in it for publicity.

9. She's gonna run
She's not going to get the nomination, but she's going to run. Personally I hope she wins the nomination. I know it wont happen, but the thought of a Obama vs Palin debate makes me a little hot.

14. I think that would be the easiest thing to use against her
Not the spill baby spill meme. I don't think she's smart enough to figure these things out though, and she's surrounded herself with pshycophants and yes-men who will lead her to believe she has a real shot at winning.

13. She will not run
She can sit on the sidelines and spew her venom without answering any questions. She can sit back and collect money and not answer where it came from.
She has found a better way to get what she wants without any answers, answers are what she has none of.

18. NO! Say it isn't so!
She was way too much fun in 2008. I was really hoping for a repeat performance in 2012.

Seriously, she's not going to waste her time running. There's too much money to be made by her in the private sector. And that's what she's all about, the money.

21. She is doing/is going to do EXACTLY what Giuliani did...
...her "candidacy" is nothing but a way to increase her speaker fees.

"Former (Vice) Presidential Nominee..." is worth bucks on the lecture circuit.

22. I don't think the PTB want Palin.
Yeah, they want a puppet, but not a stupid, spouting-off one, the likes of Palin.

Bush wasn't the brightest bulb in the pack, but even he wasn't as stupid as Palin. Also, after the financial crisis, we don't hold the same position in the world as we did in 2000 or 2004. It was one thing to have a polarizing figurehead back when our economy was still strong (or at least appeared strong) it's quite another to have a babbling figurehead at this point in time, when our creditors are wondering if we can pay our debts & some are even betting against us.

But she's not going away. Lady Blah Blah will be used to rally the zealots & racists & try to convince them to vote for the 'moderate' repub candidate.
