Oil cam showing pipe
Is it oil coming out? Looks current from the date/time stamp. Where's the kill machine?

I hope this isn't the failure of the top kill procedure. Jeez what's going on?

1. You can see a pipe, and not oil? I'm not watching, but
that sounds intriguing.

You can see the big pipe on the ground, and something is spewing out of it. It's dark stuff. I don't know if it's oil or not. Sorry.

edit to add>> I want this to work!! I wish I was an engineer and knew what the pics mean.

4. Can't see what's going on at this moment.

However, they aren't pumping mud in now (this was announced earlier). They've stopped to take pressure readings. The mud is pumped in (and apparently twice now, golf balls and pieces of rubber along with it). They stop pumping mud and take pressure readings (what they did yesterday too) to determine if they've succeeded in keeping the oil down. Mud still comes out the holes though even when they're not pumping...there's no way to determine if it's just mud or a mixture of mud and oil. BP isn't disclosing details on this.

If they resume pumping mud, it means they didn't succeed and will continue. They'll either succeed or eventually say the top kill didn't work and try something else. The longer it goes on, makes me think the lower the odds of success.

:(

6. Given where this is happening, it's hard even for them to understand what is happening...
...never mind how hard it is for us.

For the extreme conditions down there, and so far away, this might as well be a mission happening on Venus.

AFAIK, they expect some mud mix with crude to be coming out for some period of time, then pure mud, then nothing.

Everyone is concerned that parts of the BOP and the casings and liners below it might not bear the pressures of this procedure, but there really isn't a way to know unless something blows or the procedure works.

I wish I knew more, I wish they knew more.

I haven't had any problems with it being down. Thick oil seems to be still spewing.

9. I think the spewing of different colors is...
mud mixed with oil vs mud mixed with liquefied natural gas. It still seems there is oil and gas flow there.
