Snowflake Babies: "IMMEDIATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR ASIAN AND JEWISH FAMILIES!"
Wow, they are pretty damned picky about who adopts their little snowflakes. (Christian! Stay at home Mom! College Degrees! No prior marriages!) Evidently the "problem" of who will adopt these eggs is less severe than made out to be, since they are able to make so many stipulations.

(Pssst, "Snowflake" people. Yeah, you - - over here... the 'no prior marriages' bit? You are almost guaranteeing that your little eggy weggies won't go to Republican households, just so you know.)

1. Why must they be the same race?
I always thought God looks beyond those silly racial differences.

3. These people's deity doesn't generally cotton to "race mixing" you know.

I suppose it's "bad enough" that the embryos are caucasian/asian.

31. These are open adoptions
The genetic parents will know the kid and do not want their child to be confused.

2. If they can't find the "right" family for their embryo, will they donate it to stem cell research

10. What Are You Crazy???
It is better to toss it in the trash. After all someone's life could be improved if it were used for stem cell research. Why would they want that?:sarcasm:

4. No prior marriages, eh?
So under these guidelines, most of the top Republican presidential candidates couldn't adopt.

Priceless! Someone should ask them about this.

12. Er, if these are the same people that believe human life begins at
conception, aren't they guilty of selling humans? Isn't that called trafficking in humans? Isn't that called slavery? Isn't that illegal?

Yep, just checked out one of their brochures. "When embryos are created, life begins." That's what they believe.

17. Sounds more like a dating site
"Live in Southern California": So what? Why is it important where they live - are they insisting they have regular contact?

"Open to a relationship between genetic siblings": I have to presume "a relationship" means "telling them who their genetic siblings are", not "a sexual relationship" :scared: It sounds as if they are looking for someone to bring up their children (except in that case, since it's egg and sperm donors, there's no genetic relationship between whoever paid for the IVF done and the embryos), but they want to have access. Rather control-freakish, if you ask me.

18. To be fair, racialist behavior is widespread in adoptions and fertility medicine
So I'd say these people's behavior is not unique or worthy of being singled out for criticism. For example, when women of ANY religious / political persuasion choose sperm donors they are extremely picky - the demand for blond, blue-eyed children is so high that Denmark EXPORTS sperm to countries like the UK. Or consider the 'genius IQ' sperm banks. There are very few 'liberals' when it comes to such matters.

19. Huh? What about all the people who adopt from SE Asia,...
>>> There are very few 'liberals' when it comes to such matters.>>>>

.... Africa and Latin America?

You know, where there is a NEED for parents to adopt kids?

So they won't starve to death?

>>So I'd say these people's behavior is not unique or worthy of being singled out for criticism.>>

I say "single it out for criticism".

20. "Stay at home mother" required. "No prior marriages!" "College degree!"
Are you saying that these requirements are commonplace for adoption criteria?

30. I wasn't about those requirements
(which don't sound too common; something like 'no prior marriages' might well be driven by religious reasons). My point: I don't accept that race based decision-making in adoptions and fertility has much to do with one's religious beliefs; they are simply a reflection of the underlying racism in society that values children of different races differently. (Consider the depressing statistic that 50% of all children available for adoption are black - and a significant portion of those black male children).

Apparently inbreeding isn't the concern that non-Christian religion is.

23. In this case, I would forbid it. These people are control freaks.
They say it's just so the kids can get to know each other, but I would venture that it's to keep their eye on them, make sure the mother doesn't go to work outside the home, etc.

24. These are stipulations from the parents.
They are trying to ensure the best possible home for their genetic children, even if they won't be raising them. A home in which the children look like their adoptive parents and have a cultural upbringing similar to what their genetic parents would have given them. The college education is an obvious stipulation because no-college families don't have the money for the expensive fertilization procedures which created the "snowflakes."

In the Jewish family, they are trying to ensure that the child they manufactured will have culturally-similar siblings.

Big fuss about nothing. Which one of you wouldn't do the same with YOUR embryos?

25. 'no-college families don't have the money' - Is that so?
There are many, many entrepreneurs who don't have college and are doing quite well. Also, "my embryo" wouldn't care if mom works outside of the home. Plenty of women do.

or how about not generating embryos that wont be used and then freezing them because you have taken what you "needed"?
