GOP Senate hopes ride with tea party activists
How pathetic and frightening is this, for all of us?

GOP Senate hopes ride with tea party activists

By DAVID ESPO
AP Special Correspondent

WASHINGTON (AP) -- In Kentucky, the Republican Senate candidate stumbles over a question on racial segregation. In Connecticut, the party's hopes rest on an executive who banked millions on female wrestlers in skimpy outfits. In Nevada, one contender wants to phase out Social Security and another suggests trading chickens for medical care.

Welcome to the 2010 battle for the Senate.

It's midway through President Barack Obama's term, and high unemployment, an outbreak of anti-incumbent fever and political history are pointing to strong Republican gains in the fall. Yet to a degree unimaginable a few months ago, the party's fate is tied to conservatives with tea party support, scant or no political experience, and views or backgrounds that are largely unknown to statewide electorates.

"A tsunami of conservatism is coming in waves across our country," says Sharron Angle, a tea party-endorsed candidate in Nevada running for the nomination to oppose Democrat Harry Reid, the Senate majority leader. "My message is, this is what people want."

Democrats claim otherwise.

"The mainstream in their party is being expelled by the extreme," says Sen. Bob Menendez of New Jersey, who heads the Democratic campaign committee. "That trend is hurting the Republicans."

1. Until we can swing election reform, vote OUT all corporate legislators of both branches
within our right wing corporate duopoly.

Vote THEM (corporate legislators) all out and start anew until we get HONEST public servants!?!

That's one pledge EVERY WORKING/WAGE EARNING voter can take and stay loyal to.

7. How about this platform ?? ....
1. America has been highjacked by special interests, corporations having "free speech" rights, etc.

2. We can take America back, without bloodshed or great human suffering simply by applying the Constitution.

3. Our candidates will take an Oath that a) we'll ban "corporate free speech" and b) we'll pass term limit and other anti-corruption legislation to hold future elected officials accountable.

3. I Hate When I'm Right...
 :sarcasm:

I saw this brewing back when the Paulbots were rising up during the '08 primaries. The GOOP is a bankrupt party...that has been pushed off the political abyss by the far right and the chickens are coming home to roost. It'll be interesting to see how it survives through the upcoming primaries...if teabaggers win will the "regulars" stay home or visa versa? This could open up Senate seats in Arizona (come on JD!!) and Florida as well as minimize Democratic losses that many still expect in the House. The more teabaggers who are elected, the worse it will be for the GOOP as it pushes the party further right and become a threat to the party "establishment". Watching McChinless tap dance with Paulbot Jr. will be fun to watch. Will he actively campaign for him...or quietly work behind the scenes to sabotage the campaign, even if it means a Democrat winning.

The rosy picture the corporate media tried to paint for the GOOP earlier this year was never reality...while people were and are getting disenchanted with this administration, they don't see the rushpublicans as the answer either. Methinks most the talking heads read their own press clippings too much.

5. Let the Teahadists drive the GOP so far to the right that it falls off the edge.
Then watch as most of the great chunk of independent voters cannot bring themselves to support such a party anymore.

6. It is disconcerting to think of so many legislators with no experience
and no serious background in government, especially when
the country is facing so many very serious problems.

What is worse it seems thees Teabaggers think just
cutting spending, more deregulation and cutting taxes
is the only answer to the problems. It was just
these type policies by GOP over the last decades that
drove us into the ditch. This is scary.
