ON KO: Ambassador Peck gives his account of Flotilla & recalls the USS Liberty that he said was
He talks about how a passenger, a wounded vet who had previously served on the USS Liberty that was attacked by Israel, was struck by a paint ball.

This just happened so no links yet. I was surprised as I have never heard the Israeli attack of the USS Liberty brought up on national TV before.

8. There's been so little coverage of the 9 Americans in the flotilla.
Edited on Wed Jun-02-10 08:01 PM by godai
This story needs to continue, as the next ship goes to Gaza.

Who are the 9 Americans? Who were those killed? Why does no one in the MSM seem to care? Andrea Mitchell jets off to Tel Aviv, to do Bebe's bidding.

I give KO credit for the interview, but he was walking on eggs, probably on corporate orders not to stir anything up.

Tweety's discussion earlier was a joke. HARDBALL? Hardly...total SOFTBALL!!

10. Here's a statement I found from Ambassador Peck:
Statement of Ambassador Edward Peck
It’s incredible that a former US government official even has to make such a statement. -jd

“our government has steadfastly refused to permit the survivors of the heaviest attack on a Navy ship since WWII to tell properly constituted official investigators what happened on that fateful day. This is obsequious, unctuous subservience to the peripheral interests of a foreign nation at the cost of the lives and morale of our own service members and their families. It should no longer be condoned.“

Statement of Ambassador Edward Peck

Former Chief of Mission in Iraq and Deputy Director of
Ronald Reagan’s White House Task Force on Terrorism

11. More about Joe Meadors, the USS Liberty survivor
http://www.caller.com/news/2010/jun/02/israel-deports-corpus-christi-man-flotilla/

CORPUS CHRISTI — Retired Corpus Christi accountant Joe Meadors arrived at Corpus Christi International Airport on Tuesday after Israel deported him following an incident Sunday that killed at least nine of his fellow activists and injured several Israeli soldiers.

Meadors, 63, and four other Americans joined dozens aboard a Greek ship known as the Svendoni, which was part of a six-ship flotilla bent on breaking an Israeli/Egyptian blockade in Gaza.

(snip)

Meadors was contacted by the group because he was one of 173 injured aboard the USS Liberty, a U.S. Naval Intelligence ship torpedoed by the Israelis in 1967, he said. Thirty-four people died.

14. Thank you, Beth. From your link:
SHARIF ABDEL KOUDDOUS: And Ambassador Peck, finally, the United States is the only permanent member of the Security Council not to explicitly call for an end to the three-year Israeli blockade of Gaza.

EDWARD PECK: Well, sir, that doesn’t surprise me. You know, I think we vetoed twenty-nine Security Council resolutions over the years that were directed at trying to get Israel to do various things or stop doing them. This is our policy. You may know that one of the gentlemen on our particular little boat was a veteran of the attack of—Israel’s attack on the USS Liberty in the '67 war, in which 200 American servicemen serving on a US Navy ship were killed or wounded. And what did that lead to? So, the situation is imbalanced. You know, we're not looking at our own interests the way we should. The President should pay perhaps a little more attention to how to advance America’s interests, rather than protect Israel, because this is costly. And The Rachel Corrie, if they attack The Rachel Corrie, named after—

I have to confess I'd never heard of him before, but I hope I see a lot more of his truth-telling in the future.
