Maine Filmmaker Caught in Israeli Raid Returning to Maine

A Maine filmmaker caught in an Israeli raid of Gaza aid ships is in Turkey and could return to the U.S. tomorrow or Saturday, his father told the Waterville Morning Sentinel.

Moe Hamann told the paper that his son, Scott Hamann, was deported from Israel yesterday. Nine activists aboard a Turkish-flagged ship in a flotilla trying to get through an Israeli blockade were killed in the raid. Scott Hamann was aboard an American-flagged ship in the group. He was hired to document the attempt to run the blockade, the paper reports.

While most of the violence was aboard the Turkish-flagged ship, Hamann suffered a minor injury when a grenade, intended to shock, not kill, landed near his foot.

Article reports that Scott Hamann told his father that his film and computer equipment are being held by the Israelis.

I didn't see anything posted yet about this American.
