Anti-war forces aim at Sununu in TV ads

CONCORD – Retired generals, Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans and peace activists are taking aim at Sen. John Sununu.

The generals will be part of a half-million dollar television campaign starting today to criticize President Bush's Iraq policies and target Sununu and a dozen other senators and U.S. House members for supporting them.

Veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan plan to fly into the state in the morning as part of a six-state tour against the administration's war policies. Separately, peace activists said they plan to carry anti-war displays into Sununu's Manchester office and risk arrest.

Retired Maj. Gens. John Batiste and Paul Eaton are featured in ads from VoteVets.org, which challenge the President's argument that he listens to his commanders on the ground in Iraq.

Batiste and Eaton, former commanders on the ground, maintain the President's Iraq policies endanger American security. Another ad features retired Gen. Wesley Clark, who ran for President in 2004 and criticized Bush's conduct of the war.

2. I'm glad Sununu is being targeted. He benefited from the phone-jamming scandal
that occurred several years ago in NH during his run for Senator. I wonder if he knew about this crime ahead of time?
