Pelican Grief
It rips my heart out to see all of the wildlife suffering and dying as a result of the BP-caused disaster. And what we see is just the tip of the iceberg. Millions or billions of other life forms are dying in the water polluted by BP. They willfully drilled without any clue how to stop any leaks at the depths they were drilling. They deliberately lied on their corporate website and to our government about their spill-containing capabilities.

Although BP makes billions in profit each quarter they devoted virtually nothing on technology in the event of an oil spill. They are using the same failed procedures used 30 years ago, and they aren't even doing that correctly or aggressively. It's obvious BP couldn't care less about what they have done and are only concerned with how to protect their shareholders. It took seven weeks for the BP 'pointman' to even show up and walk on the beach his company destroyed.

BP acted with premeditated negligence and displayed a wanton disregard for people, the environment or for our country. And yet not one person at BP has been indicted or arrested. I see a lot of outrage from people, but virtually nothing but token anger using very measured words from our so-called 'leaders'. I suppose the BP campaign funds they received are holding them back from having the outrage they should be having.

I wish the pelicans who are victims of BP's soulless actions could speak. I wish they could tell us how they are feeling. I wish they could have their 'lives back'.

2. I was just watching a segment with Jeff Corwin on MSNBC and they
were just beginning the process of checking a pelican medically and of cleaning the bird. It's sad that those bird have to go through all that but I'm glad there are people doing it.

4. What gets to me are those who film pelicans and seemingly don't even try to save them.
Some are struggling in the surf and the camera crews just video them as the narrator talks. I would rush to help them if I was there.

5. Someone has to bring the world the images
It's very difficult for many of the photographers. I'm reminded of the pulitzer winner who committed suicide after receiving accolades for photographing a vulture standing in wait behind a starving child. (Bosnia? can't remember)

7. Yeah, I know how hard it is, I'm a filmmaker & photographer, but I hoped they helped
When they stopped filming I hope they rushed out to save the animals in distress.
