So nobody from BP has called the family to extend condolences
Earlier, during the Senate hearing on raising the liability cap of oil companies, the brother of one of the rig workers who died told Senator Whitehouse that nobody from BP has called anyone in the family to offer condolences. Senator W said, "What did you say?!" and the brother repeated it.

The hearing is being carried on C-Span 3. They must be taking a break right now.

3. That's what I figured
The lawyers telling them to keep zipped shut.

Btw, you should have heard Senator Sessions pontificating on government oversight and culpability. A new concept from him.

4. Does offering condolences fatten BP's bottom line?
No? Then there will be no condolences. Also, it could be taken as an admission of liability or guilt. Yes, corporations are persons. Mean, selfish, persons who will kill you if it means making an extra buck. Since they can't go to prison or be executed, they have no fear of the law, and everything is reduced to a cost/benefit analysis. If a corporation calculates that killing someone or a lot of someones will make it more money, you best stay out of the way.
