RE: BP's attempts to *control the message* on Google/Yahoo
If they have spent millions on those two sites, how much of a stretch do you think it is for them to push stories of *threats from those big bad Americans* in other papers in different countries?

Case in point -- http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x8512771

Caveat -- I don't know if this is ACTUALLY the case, but they are doing anything to clean up their image - what better way to gather sympathy than having stories pop up about how they are being picked on and threatened.

I wouldn't be inclined to be this tin-foily, but the fact that they bought search terms to control the message just makes me suspicious.

??

2. the first
The first two or three links, usually shaded a different color, are PAID sponsors.

I don't know anyone who actually pays them much attention. That is why I laugh when I see someone trying to create a conspiracy theory around this. I think most businesses are probably paying for stuff like that. Google their name and its probably a paid return.

I did a google just now for "dr. pepper" and Dr. Pepper was a paid return and then the first unpaid return was also their site. When this happens I usually click the unpaid link.
