Chicken from China: In business section of today's Boston Globe
Edited on Wed May-09-07 08:00 AM by yy4me
Review this paragraph, it will make you sick.

By Globe staff writer Diedtra Henderson:

In China, some farmers try to maximize the output from their small plots by flooding produce with unapproved pesticides, pumping livestock with antibiotics banned in the US, and using human feces as fertilizer to boost soil productivity. But the questionable practices don't end there: Chicken pens are frequently suspended over ponds where seafood is raised, recycling chicken waste as a food source for seafood, according to a leading food safety expert who served as a federal adviser to the Food and Drug Administration.

The article is much longer. Certainly should be widely read.

We are sitting ducks.

3. I've sworn off eating at a local Chinese buffet because every time
I eat there I feel bad afterward. I know that most of there food comes from the same source as other restaurants but the other ingredients spices and such are likely coming from China. And no they don't use MSG.

and the PRC government is directly involved. I personally knew a PRC consul who was making a fortune while she was stationed at the UN. No telling what kind of crap the PRC has been feeding us for the last few decades.

Whenever we met at her place, she would always order takeout from the PRC Mission commissary. She never ate her own products. She knew better.

Luckily for me, it was strictly business. Turned out she was a real Mata Hari. She was jerking us and the French.

it's not like in the movies. :)

Probably the most interesting thing that happened was when her PRC Case Officer(handler) loaned me his leather coat because it was a cold evening and I hadn't brought one. He knew who I worked for but was courteous enough to offer me his.
