van der Sloot...you know, my racist freeper sister sent letters of encouragement to OJ.

I bring this up for one reason...whatever happens to van der Sloot, he's going to get marriage proposals, prayers, and all kinds of inexplicable things once he lands behind bars (if that happens).

During the OJ trial, my sister...who's an intolerant racist, a right-wing whack job (although I don't believe Christianity plays a role in it...I never saw her set foot in a church or even say the word "God" for that matter)...sent MULTIPLE cards and letters to him, saying "We're behind you" and "Don't give up" and "Stand firm" and all kinds of other wonderful things that someone might say to a man who just slit his wife's throat.

So you can call me Nostradamus, or you can call me Al...once the cell door slams shut on van der Sloot, he's gonna get love bombed from all four corners of the world. Count on it.

Not every country allows this kind of phenomenon to be enabled, ditto allowing killers to promote themselves on their own websites or by selling their own "art" or other products.

I have no idea what the situation is in Peru--just sayin...

In the stories that came out yesterday, it was mentioned that he called his mother.

What did he say? "Hi, mom, she used my laptop so I snapped her fucking neck."

I don't know what "justice" is in this situation, but I think cutting him off from mommy and shitcanning his fanmail might be a good start.

It's beyond nuts.

When I was a kid, I worshipped the ground she walked on. She was like a second mother to me.

Then she...changed.

I blame some of it on my brother-in-law, but that doesn't explain the whole story. Without warning, beyond reason, she just changed.

But I will bet the farm on the fact that there is someone, somewhere, in the world that's looking at van der Sloot being taken into custody in the same way that young girls used to look at David Cassidy and Bobby Sherman on the cover of "Tiger Beat."

You're right, and the "bad boy" posts on DU are always a laugh and a half, but I grew up around a LOT of "bad boys"...guys I'd classify as a waste of space...but I don't think van der Sloot fits into that category. I think he's flat-out psychotic.

Having said that, though, I'm sure there are many who see him simply as a "bad boy," and therein lies the venom.

And Madoff's a rock star. Granted, Bernie didn't kill anyone, but he destroyed many, many lives in other ways...and behind bars, he's a "hero."

I think these prisons are high up in the mountains, where it gets cold at night. One thin blanket if you are lucky.

But yeah, they always seem to exist. No doubt this guy will have to beat them off with a stick from his prison cell...unless their missives are prevented from reaching him at all.

That's not to say some men aren't equally as twisted...there are all kinds of guys who will happily fantasize and fetishize incarcerated women, no matter how horrible their crimes. There just aren't as many of those kinds of women behind bars.

It happens. There are a lot of deeply disturbed people in this world. Van der Sloot's dad prevented him from prosecution in Aruba, knowing he was guilty of either selling Natalie Holloway into slavery or murdering her. But he ain't around to protect him this time.
I've known beautiful well-educated women who have married incarcerated men, and I cannot comprehend this. Way too deep for me.
