Since Sunday, 17 U.S. troops have been killed in Afghanistan.
I would so rather see our troops fighting the oil spill. At least, that has an end in sight, more or less. And it would make more sense to me.

The latest: Afghan Taliban fire on chopper, killing 4 GIs

"KABUL, Afghanistan - Four American troops were killed Wednesday when their helicopter was shot down by enemy fire in Afghanistan's Helmand province, U.S. military officials told NBC News.

Taliban spokesman Qari Yousef Ahmadi claimed responsibility on behalf of the insurgents, saying militants shot down the helicopter with two rockets.

Helmand provincial government spokesman Daoud Ahmadi said the attack occurred about midday in Sangin district.

<snip>

Monday was the deadliest day for the coalition there in seven months..."

Meanwhile, his successor is ending combat ops in Iraq... but try telling that to the media or much of DU.

2. Have we as a nation become numb by eternal warfare?
Or have we simply stopped debating war and occupation in our name because the Democratic Party is now in control?

7. I've noticed the last headline blared " 10 NATO troops killed" ...
and wondered how many were ours. The MSM must want to soften this news and keep the war machine going strong.

9. When we have a law that any elected official who decides
to send other people's children to fight these wars for profit, must either go themselves or send their own familiy members, I will have more faith in their decisions.

The Bush and Obama children will never be asked to do what their fathers call 'glorious service for their country'. If it is so glorious, then why do these leaders never encourage their own family members to share in the glory?

Tragic and I wonder how many more civilians were killed as this useless war rages on.
