Obama throws Labor under the Bus, he throws his presidency too
I have been disappointed in Obama in some areas and have given him the benefit of the doubt because so much of the previous administration and blocking of things by the Republicans, plus early defectors that turned on him almost from the start, but this one is of his own making. He can't blame the previous admin., the Republicans, or early defectors for this one. He needs labor and the working families who are the middle class, and if he is turning on them I have to say that I CAN NOT support such a position. Hopefully he will see how stupid a move this is and admonish the senior advisor and even Gibbs for their statements.

But I dare not say it, or there will be a fleet running in here shrieking, "It's not about YOU!"

Thanks for this.... I know there are so many of us who feel this way, and it hurts.

19. Holy Crap, you forgot when he threw the city Chicago under the bus by going to Copenhagen
and deliberately losing the olympic bid!

=====

First off I question the veracity of the POLITICO story.

Secondly, the efforts in Arkansas apparently really backfired and allowed Lincoln to present herself as an "underdog" besieged by "outsider money ." That's how it seems to me, and that doesn't make me anti-labor.

20. OMG! & how about the time he threw Hawaii into the sun and incinerated it!!11!!
I gave money to Halter. I watched him yesterday and decided that he was a milquetoast weasel candidate and was not feeling as good about my giving him money a few weeks back. I was posting excited threads when I though Halter was going to win - mostly because I really dislike Blanche. OTOH, I would have been shocked off my rocker if Obama didn't support the current Senator in that seat - no President walks away from a sitting Senator in their own party unless there is scandal involved. So, I supported Halter and Obama's position here. It's not that complicated - why are people making more out of this than it is?

And many Democrats that are voting are voting defensively (lesser of two evils). More and more are beginning to understand their interests aren't represented in government.

8. Unions are a large constituency, but they have a right to back whomever they choose.
If they choose to switch their support, then so be it. But the ridiculous threats, and the 1000+ threads that have been started on this topic today, are a bit much. Was one of those threads not enough for you? You do know that there's a whole world outside of DU, and not all Democrats are union members, myself included, right?

17. I'm not a union member but I strongly support a vigorous union presence. They do benefit all workers
In areas where the union presence is strong, even non-union workers tend to do better.

BTW, I'm not African American or homosexual either but I support equal rights for those who are.

23. Did I say that I don't support unions? But that support is not unconditional.
Much like your support for the administration. You don't agree with everything, if anything, the administration does; and I don't agree with everything the unions do. Not even the union membership always agrees with its leadership. It's pretty simple really.

29. If I have a choice between a pro-labor or anti-labor candidate, I'm going pro-labor.
The destruction of our working and middle classes is one of the top challenges we face. It is #1 for me. Without putting people back to work for good wages, nothing else will get better, either. Halter was not as ideally progressive as I'd like but Lincoln is a disaster for working and middle class Americans.

31. "Lincoln is a disaster for working and middle class Americans".
And if by some miracle, she manages to pull off a win, let's hope she doesn't hold a grudge. This purging by the parties is making it nearly impossible to work across the aisle. Between the teabaggers, and the purists, there's no compromise anymore. It may just be time for labor and the Democratic party to part ways, but that's just my opinion.

36. This is not about Blanche. I could give a shit about Blanche as a Senator.
This is about control of Congress as much as anything. At least with Harry Reid, Dems control the chairmanships, and what comes to the floor for a vote. With Mitch McConnell in charge, progressive issues won't even make it out of committee for debate. But then you knew that, right?

39. Does no good to get a bill to the floor if our own won't vote to pass it.
I very seriously doubt we'll lose the majority by one seat. We will very likely at this point maintain the majority. If the economy dumps again we may lose it but not by one seat. Halter was polling better against the Republican than Lincoln was. By 11 points.

his pants down, whose parents paid hush money to the mistress. Like it or not, not every state votes like the West Coast. My Senators are Kay Hagan and Richard Burr. Hagan is no liberal, but that's the trade-off for having a majority.

Political junkies like drama. So I'm sure it matters not to you whether we have a working majority or not. You should probably put your feet to the pavement to fight off the teabagger in NV, and let AR worry about Blanche. mmmmkay?

But Ensign will be taken down by his own. Repubs are jumping ship on him as fast as they can.

As for a working majority, as I've already said, it matters little if we get a bill to the floor when the Blanche Lincolns and Ben Nelsons and Joe Liebermans conspire with the Repugs to defeat them.

And, once again, Halter was polling better against the Repug than Lincoln by 11 points. He had a better chance of holding the seat than she does. But don't let the facts get in the way of a good talking point.

And I have every intention of helping Harry keep his seat which is looking more and more likely every day.
