As the vehicles passed, some people lining the road held up signs in the rain; others just kept picking through debris, not bothering to look up.

had I been there my sign would have said

He arrived by helicopter this morning, first flying over Greensburg to take in the full scope of the tornado's fury, then driving through town in a motorcade of at least 20 vehicles carrying local officials, the governor, congressmen, a senator, reporters and Secret Service agents.

I can't wait to see his "concerned look" in the helicopter photo-op pic. :eyes:

5. Need to read btween the lines here -
At the John Deere dealership, he viewed the smashed combines and busted-up tractors, doling out hugs to survivors and words of thanks to volunteers.

Oh yuck! Can you imagine? I'd have to puke on him if he hugged me!!

20 vehicle caravan? Good grief. Same when he was here in KC. I saw Clinton many times and can remember no more than 5 or 6 vehicles in his caravan. Why does chuckle nuts need 20 cars (and I will bet they were all gas guzzling black SUVs!!)

As the vehicles passed, some people lining the road held up signs in the rain; others just kept picking through debris, not bothering to look up.

SIGNS?? What did they say? Something tells me they weren't words of praise! I got a bunch of emails from groups planning on "welcoming" the prez. LOL

11. I wonder which Senator dropped out?
He arrived in Wichita with both Brownback and Roberts in tow, and only one joined his royal procession through town?

Maybe Sam is too scared of our governor to join 'em.

Oh for fuck's sake. Between this and what it cost to send the Big Dick to Iraq, they could handle all the recovery expenses in Kansas.

"...doling out hugs to survivors and words of thanks to volunteers." What a guy. Just don't expect him to, you know, really DO anything for them.

6. Let me make a prediction here.
He'll promise assistance in rebuilding.

He'll promise that people impacted will get all the help they need.

He'll promise that the world's thoughts and prayers are with the residents of Kansas.

Then he'll get back on Air Force One and that will be the end of it. Millions of dollars spent for a photo op.

For additional information, please refer to Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans, Louisiana.

to just send the money that this little soiree cost to help rebuild instead of giving this fucker the opportunity to congest and slow down the rebuilding process.

20. Absolutely!
He could have sent platters of cold cuts and beverages for the workers. Tents for them to take shelter under in the rain.

Or, he could have stayed in D.C., and just done what he promised he would do. No, it's all about the photo ops with Bush. He doesn't really care about the people in Kansas.

The images of the damage are just horrifying. Sending good thoughts to the people in Kansas...

THAT makes his visit worth every damn cent, I'm sure!!!

After Katrina, after doing pretty much jack shit for New Orleans, for him to even show up now; my level of disgust for everything to do with * just continues to grow and grow.

When I think I've reached my limit, no, they go and do something else and I find just like the stock market, I keep setting new record highs.

These people have no shame. They know no remorse. They have no morals, no ethics, no standards. They are a disgrace in every sense of the word. And to think they believe they have the right to preach to us, and tell us how we should live our lives is all the more insulting.

28. I would disagree with you slightly here.
The folks in Kansas are mostly (if not universally) white, and they're part of the Repuke base. If they aren't picking up the great plains, they won't be winning elections anymore. They'll see to it that Kansas gets aid.

Failure to bail them out would quickly tarnish their rep throughout the Great Plains, who stand to see a lot more tornadoes in the future.

10. PR101 ... when financial times are rough, the CEO appears with
sleeves rolled up ... preferably in a blue shirt ... when times are good, they appear in their business suit.

I was telling Mrs. ZBDent about that the other night, when they were advertising the next segment of the news about Ford closing plants in NE Ohio. I said "Watch when this management spokesman comes on ... his shirt sleeves will be rolled up."

However, it was the local spokesperson for the auto union, so his sleeves were down.

34. It is kinda strange
I remember Schultz's book, What's the Matter With Kansas. I wonder how the people from Kansas are going to react now?

His loyal subjects get a visit from him and a photo-op. He has not said anything about money, or getting equipment there or anything that could make it easier on them. After all their blind loyalty, what are the chances of them finally seeing the light?

38. This is just a small town that got destroyed...
The Bushistas ought to move some of those mobile homes rotting in Arkansas to this town to provide shelter. Move 'em on flatcars.

Bush could have written a personal check to help this town.

means he's a man-o-the -peeeeeple, and will soon be picking up broken bits of wood, and waving them in front of camera people..

next on the list will be hugging the first black person he sees...even if it's a volunteer (not many black people living in small-town Kansas)..
