No less than four right wing talk radio stations in Atlanta (not one liberal station).
Rush, Gallagher, Boortz, and Dennis Miller are all on at the same time. We had AAR for a couple years, but they disappeared a few months ago.

It's really depressing.

7. I think the powers that be wanted it off the air before the mid-term elections.
Some local businessman bought the station to broadcast a high brow arts (opera, classical, jazz, etc.) format.

9. It comes down to station ownership and marketing
Most of the markets that AAR lost out in were due to the ownership deciding to switch format or sold the station to some other group, generally "christian". Others had advertising sales staff that were completely hostile to the format and did nothing to sell local ad time. In such a hostile environment, the only way to succeed is to own the station and have a dedicated group that believes in what they're doing. The two big success stories, Phoenix and Madison were the result of overwhelming response from the audience when the format was changed. When progressive voices pull top ranked market share and get dumped, you know that the motive isn't profit.

2. Are they tryin' to change Atlanta?
Cause I thought Atlanta, Georgia was more of a Progressive bastion like Austin, Texas?

It's real nice they have all those rwfascist liars on the airwaves but the bushits blew it big time and the peeps are getting on to them.

3. Atlanta is progressive.
In the suburbs, where most people live, a big NO.

5. Outside the Perimeter (I-285 loop around the city), the populace is red, red, red.
There are some blue spots in GA (Savannnah and Athens come to mind) but most of the suburbs and rural areas are red. I live in a blue town here that has sucessfully fought off most of the RW-GOP scourge.

4. Don't forget Hannity on 750 AM after Clarke Howard, followed by Savage and some local RW nut.
Here in NE GA, the Savage Weiner is on 750 AM at night and Laura Ingrahm is on the other local AM news station. Oy!

:puke:

Howard (total nutcase) Caine subs for Boortz. He makes Boortz seem almost liberal in comparison. :(

I used to lsitern to Air Atlanta and a Cincinatti AA station (after dark) but, alas, neither are AA anymore.

13. Okay, there are two, but much of the content on WRFG is music.
The other station is a little too local for my tastes.

You are right though, and they are both good stations.

you're right about WAOK - entirely too local.

10. Tell me about it. I listen to WSB Radio on the way home from work
so that I can get the traffic advisories. Sean Hannity is on at that time. Well, at least I can focus my road rage on the radio.

15. Turn off the radio. That's why they make 8-track/cassette/CD players.
Besides, I've driven in Atlanta enough to know that people there should probably be paying more attention to driving, anyway.
